The views are breadth taking. I suggest to go as early as it is light. The road way gets pretty crowded and the parking spots to see the views fill up. Bring water and snacks for the trip since the only available food is at...More

We came to visit on June 12. We started early in the morning and came in at the Grand Lake entrance on the west side. We took our time and stopped at every trailhead looking for wildlife. We saw about 30 moose, several hundred elk,...More

Family of 18 - rode the Trail Ridge. Excellent views. Cold and very windy at Alpine Center - but climb to top (via stairs and asphalt) was difficult at 11,500 - 12,000 feet - but worth it at the end. If in doubt, stay on...More

Take this drive to really see the breathtaking sights! You will notbe disapointed with the beauty of the park. Stop at all the turnoffs and just stare at the vastness of the park and the beauty of the mountain ranges. Fantastic!

Is there a route that is NOT along the cliff side? East to west, or opposite?

If you drive it from Estes Park to Grand Lake you are against the mountains for the most part.
Do you still have to pay a toll if you have a national park pass?

If you have a national park pass then just show it and get a map and newspaper and you are on your way.
Can anyone tell me when trail ridge road will be open? We are visiting next week from the east coast and hoping to enjoy the scenery.
