This is the main road that winds through Rocky Mountain National Park and takes you up to some of the summits. The views are absolutely amazing and there are plenty of places to get out and take pictures or walk around. Dress warm, especially if you go early or late in the season, as it can get pretty cold that... More

Our first attempt at travelling Trail Ridge Road from Estes Park to Grand Lake came to a halt after about 12 miles due to early snow (late September) however we tackled it from the Grand Lake side the next day and were delighted to find the entire road reopened. The views were amazing - the vistas changed to provide all... More

Trail Ridge Road offers just amazing views over the Rocky Mountains and it's fun to drive. Probably the best overlooks are Rainbow Curve Overlook and Gore Range Overlook. Absolutely a must road to drive.

Did part of this road twice. The first day Trail Ridge was closed at Rainbow Curve due to very high winds, snow and ice at the higher elevations. Wind was 40 mph at Rainbow Curve, but the views were awesome. It was also very cold. T-43 plus wind chill. Later in the week Trail Ridge was fully open and we drove... More

The views from trail ridge road are amazing! We saw tons of elk as we drove through the grassy fields at the bottom. The further you go up, the more spectacular the view. We went on a clear day and could see for what felt like forever.

Trail Ridge is one of the gold standards in high mountain roads. You should feel privileged to visit such a place with so little effort. Try to leave it better than you find it and remember the costs of getting you there so easily.

Drove the Trail Ridge Road again. Beautiful in the fall, and not nearly as crowded as during a summer visit.

A trip up and over the Trail Ridge Road gives you a great glimpse of life above the treeline. The tundra vegetation and carefree elk are a treat to see. A short hike at or frome the Alpine Visitor Center is a must (as long as you are in decent shape as you'll notice the thin air immediately). Reaching altitudes... More

We went on a weekday in late August, and the road was not jammed with traffic. From the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center, it’s about a 40 minute drive to Alpine Visitor Center if you're not held back by other vehicles and you take your time. The road winds its way above treeline to spectacular scenery in the alpine tundra. We... More

This drive is worth it! Take it slow and stop at the roadside lots and don't forget your camera. We are scared of heights so it was frightening because of the steep edges with very little shoulder and mostly a lack of guard rails but well worth it. We were there in the fall so it closes at night which... More
