As other reviewers have stated, perhaps an early visit to Bear Lake will alleviate having to circumvent a very busy location. We opted to take the shuttle from the Estes Park visitor center to the Park and Ride location where we boarded the shuttle to...More

We got to Bear Lake one day around 7:15 AM and half the lot was still open. The next morning we took the shuttle from park and ride around 8:30 and the lot was full. It is way more peaceful to get there earlier in...More

It's a beautiful walk, doesn't take took long but there are other places to hike from Bear Lake as well. Get there early because the parking lot fills up fast, and then the other parking lot (where you ride the bus to bear lake) fills...More

Park and the park-and-ride and catch the shuttle to Bear Lake. It's free and the shuttles run every 10 to 15 minutes in both directions. It's well worth a quick visit and has an easy, short trail around the lake.

We walked around the lake. There is a nice, almost side-walk like trail that circles around the lake. My kids enjoyed climbing up the rocks on the side of the trail. Saw some elk while on the trail too.

Beautiful lake, easier hike once you are acclimated to the altitude some. Very popular destination with visitors. Good shuttle system to get there if can't drive to trail head. Other lakes are worth the hike to get to them. Can do a nice loop with...More

The hike around the lake is very easy and gorgeous! Saw ducks on the lake and many places for pictures or picnics. We were lucky enough to find a parking spot even though they said that the lots were full, so we didn't have to...More

Depending on when you plan to visit, the closest campgrounds in Rocky Mountain National Park are Glacier Basin and Moraine Park. Aspenglen would be another option in RMNP. Do a Google Search for RMNP campgrounds and you... More

In case another person sees this, the trail around Bear Lake had about 60 inches of snow on the ground on March 16. That amount of accumulated snow is normal in winter and early spring. Sneakers are NOT adequate because... More

HI, I'm pretty sure dogs are not allowed on trails in RMNP. I thought I read that somewhere before our trip. And, I didn't see anything about swimming at Bear Lake.
