One of my favorite hikes. The Scenery is incredible and changes every mile. Summer is very busy, and when wet, the boardwalks are slippery. If you are doing the full loop, watch your tide charts and know where you are at. We do this with my Scout Troop every year and the Scouts (age 10 to 17 love it). Long drive from almost everywhere!

This was a fairly long (9 miles) hike without a lot of variety. Lots of boardwalks through the woods and then 3 miles along the beach. VERY rocky, on the beach, bring your trekking poles. A black bear came out to the beach to find food but we were able to go wide (tide was out) and he/she eventually went back into the woods (toward the trail we were going to end up returning on!). Some others saw him later on the trail, we did not. I'd choose Rialto beach over this.

Being some lunch or plan wilderness camping great sites, first come, first served spaces, but all water front. Walk can also be a Look rather than a simple out and back

Great 6.2 mile round trip hike, even for a novice. Beautiful trail system with gravel, boardwalk, stairs. A couple of bridges and a creek with a couple of porta potties. Bring extra water as the creek was drying up. Lots of wildlife and great views of the ocean! The campsites were clean and level!

We did this trail the day before the cleanup weekend and, even though the cleanup was yet to begin, the trail was very well maintained! As others have mentioned, there are considerable sections of boardwalk (most of the trail). A few varied pieces of elevation, but nothing to worry about and would be fine more most walkers. The real treat is getting to the edge of the forest, looking through the trees to the water and making the way to the beach. Rock formations, beautiful sand, wild deer and eagles?! Solid walk.
