Since the Olympic National Park is so large, there are so many aprproaches, entry and ranger stations. They were very helpful at the ranger station at Hood Canal. The vistas are lovely and the trails pretty easy.

The home owners of the Lake House were were visiting on Lake Cushman offered their crab pot for us to try fishing for crabs off the Pier at Hoodsport. Neither my husband or I had ever fished for crabs so we did some research, thawed some frozen chicken breast fillets, set up the cooler with ice and newspaper, selected which... More

This is a huge body of water surrounded by beautiful scenery from trees to farmland to mountains. Good for beach walks, boating, driving highway 101, and exploring. Lots to see and do here.

We loop the hoodcanal time to time to hit all of our favorite nature spots. There are so many hidden gems on this drive that it is insane.

The Hood Canal Bridge was closed so we took the long way around. I thought it would take forever and we had company due at my home. Luckily all traffic stayed at the speed limit and we weren't detained. It is fun seeing how people build cabins on the water side where there's hardly an inch available. If you have... More

We returned to Seattle via the backside of hood canal at the recommendation of our hostess. It is soooooo the way to go! Peaceful vistas with very little traffic for miles of shorline. We also found a lovely waterfall outside of Brinnon at Dosewallups rec area. Yes, it is worth the stop! The lovely views continue the length of the... More

There is nowhere like this as far as I know. Ocean, rivers, mountains, quaint towns, relaxation at its best. Only hope it always stays this way!

A must drive over to link with the Olympic Peninsula. Driven it dozens of times. Waited on it a few as a Trident Class submarine would pass from Bangor. Still enjoy the drive, even after the new mods to the bridge.

We crossed the Hood Canal at Port Gamble. Going west, just after the bridge there is a cut off to the right that brings you down to the shore just under the bridge. It is a beautiful spot to view both the river and the bridge from the bottom up. Take a few minutes to enjoy it.
