Spent a week in the North Cascades. This was a nice trail. Good workout with great views at the end. I went as part of a service project with the Forest Service. We planted pink and white heather for restoration work, and sedge grasses along the Blue Lake area. There was snow on the far edges of the lake. The... More

We were driving the North Cascades Highway (State Route 20) from Marblemount to Chelan and this was the perfect way to break up the drive and stretch our legs. The trail is four and one-half mile round trip with 1050 feet of elevation gain. It is classed as “moderately easy”. Anyone in reasonable shape should have no problems with this... More

The trail is rocky or narrow in some places, so it may be a little challenging for weak knees, but the views are definitely worth it. We experienced tiny ice pellets, so be prepared if the forecast is for possible showers.

The park ranger at the Visitor Center gave me 2 recommended 2 hour hikes and I only had time to pick one. One was the Cutthroat Lake Trail, which is an easy 3.8 miles round trip hike with a 400 ft. elevation gain. Instead of that one I choose this Blue Lake Trail, which is a moderate 4.4 miles round... Perfect length for a half day. Easy route up nothing really strenuous. The pay off far exceeds the effort to get up there. Don't be put off by the altitude climb, it's easy and well marked. No chance of getting lost. The lake is nestled in a snow bowl and even in late august there was still snow. If you... More

I loved this hike but then again I love glacial water! What's not to love about the blue-green color? To be rewarded by that view when you end, well fantastic. Throw in a wild mountain goat and well you have one fantastic hike! It was my favorite hike we did.

The sign says 1100 feet of elevation gain in 2.2 miles. But it is so gradual that it's really not an issue. Trail is in good shape, some snow (July 7th). We were told we might see some Mtn Goats, but no. Good views and a nice trail.

This was a great hike despite the rain! It's quite short so easy for most ability levels. The ride out on the mountain roads is quite long - 30 minutes through potholes (best to take a tall car) so just hang in there, you'll get there eventually! Beautiful scenery throughout the drive and during the hike. **Need a national park... More

This is great if you are after something that isn't too physical. The ride up is beautiful, make sure you stop to look at some of the streams from the bridges. We didn't measure how long it took to go up but the car ride from the trailhead to the main road was 30 minutes. Watch out for potholes as... More
