Well worth the long drive into the deep forest. The road is mostly paved until the last 8 miles are gravel turning into a narrow winding road, took an hour to drive it. We did it in a small sedan car but an SUV would...More

Just the drive to the Cascade Pass trail head is worthwhile due to the mountain scenery. The hike to the pass is pretty steep and there will be snowfields to cross most of the year but it is well worth the effort. There's a rock...More

It's definitely not one of the most intense hiking of the area but surely one of the most spectacular! you can enjoy a forest landscape that gradually turns into a more bare one as you keep rising up. At the top the view is priceless...More

The drive up to the Cascade pass can be pretty scary, as it's about ½ an hour on gravel roads. They are very steep, sometimes one lane, slippery, windy and narrow, along with numerous potholes. Make sure you have a good car to get up...More

Drive up the Cascade River road into the less traveled both literally and figuratively. The Cascade Pass trail-head is a little over 20 miles from the intersection in Marblemount, and it can get pretty steep, windy, and narrow at times. Don't let the road dissuade...More

Like other mentioned the switchbacks are monotonous but definitely helpful because its a steep climb otherwise. While I was the only one in the parking lot (around 7 AM on a weekday), I was a little skeptical in going up alone. The hike up was...More

The last portion of the road to the trail head was very narrow. So drive carefully. The trail itself was not difficult. The first portion of the trail was in the forest. But once you climbed upward and on top of the mountain, the view...More

Twenty three miles past Marblemount on the Cascade River road is the trailhead for this hike. The road has some rough sections with potholes and washboard, but is passable to most cars. Just slow down and enjoy the views. While the drive to the trailhead...More
