Even though the ground is covered with foliage, steam vents keep you acutely aware of the lava flowing underground. We were there in the daytime so didn't see the red glow from the caldera but did see it on a helicopter later in the week....More

A must see for the first timers. The whole park is a geological wonder is an active volcano so please follow the rules and signs the steam holes are everywhere and the crater is amazing there is big hike to go see the lava flow...More

seeing the hot lava and see it smouldering knowing that it could rupture is quite an experiance. This was a MUST stop for the kids we took a tour so limited on time but it was cool to see the lava.

just a great day seeing the devastation and recovery of the earth from volcano action, there are easy trails, hard trails and amazing sights throughout park...a great day never to forget
