This is a tunnel to walk through. It wasn't crowded for us fortunately. Its maybe 100 meters long. It is at least shaded.

I passed from there with a tour of the island! It's a great place to see and hike around but on that day the lights of the tube were broken, we used the torch of the cell phones to go around but obviously couldn't see...More

I did this as part of the Kilaeua Iki trail......noit sure it was worth the side trip. Jus a long dimly lit tunnel, maybe I was expecting more. The price was right

Lots of parking and a short stairway through the tropical forest to the lava tube entrance. Very dark, but a fun thing to do and no charge. Definitely take your kids.

Good place to take a few photos as the greenery hangs over the opening of the lava tube, once you get inside its just the bare tube with a few puddles here and there. Flashlight on camera was helpful for a few minutes of the...More

Don't forget your flashlight as the lights have failed inside due to "standing water" Easily accessible for all fitness levels. Interesting and well worth the visit

Stroll through a naturally formed lava tube. Short walk doable for all ages. Steps involved. Parking at this site is listed as 30 minutes, which is more than enough time to spend here. The parking lot can get really busy in the afternoons--make this one...More

The Thurston Lava Tube is found on a short hiking loop. There is some degree of vertical shift, but it's not a hard hike. There is a sign that flashlights are required, but the tube itself is mostly lit. What isn't directly lit does have...More

The Thurston Lava tube was interesting to see but we expected a little more with all the marketing hype. It was little more than a 30 yd walk through a small "cave" formed by lava. Great for children to see and learn about. It was...More

we enjoyed walking through the lava tube. It did not take long and made a loop. The teenagers really thought it was cool!

The tube is real close to Kilauea and the kava flies down to the ocean. You should see Kilauea during day and night.
