The pools in the Gulch are closed, have been for the entire year. So basically you pay $20 to walk a .5 mile loop and look out over a mediocre waterfall and a few pools of water. I assume when they allow swimming, it changes...More

Beautiful hike that is highly recommended! The only downside I can think of is that while we were there, the 7 sacred pools were closed due to rockslides/dangerous water levels. So no swimming :-(

The drive from Hana to Haleakala (Kipahulu area) is more narrow than the road to Hana, but still worth it. Once you get to national park visitor center, be sure to ask about the water levels in the Makahiku and Waimoku falls on the Pipiwai...More

It is worth the drive to see this beautiful waterfall. The facilities at the park are clean and efficient. It is a short hike to see the waterfalls and it is well worth the trip on the Road to Hana.

Ohe'o Gulch, also known as seven sacred pools, is found in the Kipahulu section of Haleakala National Park. It is just under 10 miles past the city of Hana and takes about 30 minutes to get to. There is also a $20 admission fee to...More

If you go to Hana, it is well worth the extra 30 minutes to make your way to Ohe'o Gulch. It is a beautiful area. If you go early you will avoid so much of the 2 way traffic. The road is so narrow and...More

15 minute hike, but all you'll get here is a snapshot. The Pipiwai Trail was also disappointing – obstructed views of the falls, the trail ending 50 yards before the final falls. Spend your precious time and $20 somewhere else.

Short, easy hike. Only takes about 15 minutes. The pools have been closed since January so that was the only disappointing thing that we couldn't swim in the water. We also did a 1.5 hour hike that is adjacent to this short one and it...More

Beautiful view, unfortunately it was raining before so we could not get into the water. Hiking trail is only 10 to 15 minutes.

When we visited in May, we were hoping to swim in the pools! But the water was absolutely raging when we arrived and it was incredibly unsafe to do so! But such a majestic amazing view. So impressive to watch the enormous volumes of water...More

We were camping at the campground so fairly early in the morning. Maybe 10am or so.
