If you are up for a somewhat off road adventure, this is for you! This primitive road took about an hour to follow. We saw waterfalls and smaller wildlife (birds, chipmunks, and squirrels) on our way down the mountain. It looked like we took our...More

A local friend told me about the Balsam Mountain area and the drive. She was right. There was no one around. The drive is a long one, but it's well worth it. It's very peaceful and enjoyable. You drive along side a stream near the...More

We were looking for a gravel road off the beaten path to drive our jeep on and Balsam Mountain Road was perfect. The drive took us about two hours and we encountered a few other cars on our drive. Don't forget to bring a map!
