Good hike with rewards

It's not an easy hike but it has about everything you want from views, wildlife and a nice waterfall.

Reading through the last two reviews, we were under an impression that the trial was open, but trial is in fact closed. Considering the travel needed to go there, we decided to proceed any way. The reason why the trial was closed was because one of the bridges was collapsed because of a tree fall. We had trekking sticks, so... More

This 8.5 mile hike goes fairly steeply up the mountain along the stream valley (especially steep/steps for the last mile or so). The waterfall is great but there is not a lot of room to sit on the one big rock -- fortunately few people make it there.

Challenging hike. Demanding uphill hike over boulders and old tree roots, but we'll worth it to lay on a huge Boulder at the end and watch this beautiful natural waterfall. Easier going downhill.

We read the previous review on here stating that the Ramsey Cascades trail was closed, but since the park's website said nothing about it we decided to try. Got all the way up to the parking area to see a huge sign saying the trail was closed. Would be nice to have had some communication on the park website about... More

Ramsey Cascades Trail is CLOSED. Please relay this information. Don't want someone wasting their time trying to find it, attempting to drive the narrow, dusty pot hole ridden 'road' to get there and then see that big neon sign announcing it is closed. Can bust a tire in several places, ruin a wheel, and my freshly washed and waxed Charger... More

Take your time with this hike! There are plenty of places to rest and have a snack, take pictures, etc. Give yourself several hours for this hike

This is an all day hike 4-1/2 miles to it and back. Take some food with you and some raincoats. One of the better falls to see in the Smokey's. But for an all day hike, it's worth it! You will have to locate the entrance on the way to Cosby.

Beautiful hike! The hike follows the stream all the way to the top to the waterfall. The hike is a moderate level hike, but the last 1/2 miles gets a little difficult. The hike is well worth the extra difficulty when you get to the falls and can take in the beauty.

I am 42 and did this hike with my 14 year old dtr and 44 year old boyfriend 7/27/16. My daughter is typically very athletic though she hasn't had much exercise all summer, she had no problem with the hike. I would say my boyfriend and I are in fair condition. We both could run for 30 minutes in flat... More
