We stopped at the visitor center to get our bearings and determine where we wanted to go, we decided to skip Cades Cove and just go to Townsend and back to Gatlinburg through Wears Valley. If you stop at the Visitors Center bring your wallet,...More

This scenic drive is convenient way to go from Townsend to Gatlinburg through the Great Smoky Mountains NP. We did the drive on a Sunday morning in late April. There were very few cars on the road at 9am, and the drive was peaceful and...More

Take your time on this winding drive along the river road to Cades Cove and enjoy the natural beauty of GSMNP. Take the time for stopping at pull outs and photo taking.

Went on a photographic workshop and specialized in long exposures of waterfalls. So many great shots along this road. If you are a photographer, take your time and explore all the angles and shutter speeds.

This is a beautiful winding drive through the mountains from the Townsend "y" to Sugarlands Visitor Center. Love to hear the river on the western end of the drive. We were in a rented convertible this trip and that made it even more fun. There...More

This has always been a scenic drive, but now it is also a scenic shortcut between Townsend and Gatlinburg. We tried to take the usual parkway route between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and wound up in a massive traffic jam. It took 45 minutes for...More

Even in our big F-350 Ford we had no problem with the road. Plenty of places to pull over and take fantastic pictures of the river. Speed limits run from 25 to 35.

Are there multiple spots that someone can pull off and fish with enough room to accommodate a trailer. A friend and i will be coming through and would love to drive through the road and fish for a day, but didnt know how much room the pull offs will have. Please advise, thanks
