Best sunset views

We made it to Powell Point just in time for sunset on our first night at the Canyon, and it ended up being our favorite spot. Lots of space to walk around.

Catch the earliest shuttle to get there by sunrise - absolutely fabulous! If walking back take plenty of water and remember there are no facilities until you get back to the Bright Angel Trailhead.

Another stopping point on the shuttle bus. If you are lucky to have someone familiar with the areas, you will hear the history behind it's name. As will all the stops, it offers great views of the canyon.

We stopped at all the points along the South rim and this one and Desert View are my favorite. A nice tribute there to Mr. Powell also.

Awe inspiring and grand silence this time of year at the Canyon. A light snow fell the evening prior, so upon our arrival these trees were photo ready.

In addition to the beautiful canyon views this stop on the Hermits Rest shuttle has a monument to John Wesley Powell whose expedition ran the Canyon in 1869 and 1871.

I'm not sure what more I can say about the whole Grand Canyon experience. There isn't a bad view anywhere in this park!

This viewpoint is a short walk from Hopi Point. There is a very nice view of the canyon from this point and there is some interesting history associated with this location as described on the signboards. There was a silver mine at this location at one time and then, for 13 years, a uranium mine. And then the resulting clean-up... More

As with all of the stops and look out points in the Grand Canyon, Powell's Point has an exquisite, mind blowing view. There is a memorial at this location, named after a retired US military officer who lost one arm during the civil war. It is dedicated to him and his team. He led two expeditions down The Colorado and... More

You need to take the red shuttle to get to this point. Worth stopping at and can walk to the next or just wait for the next shuttle.
