This trail was the highlight of our visit to the north rim, and was less congested than Bright Angel Point. To reach it, follow Cape Royal Drive east/southeast from AZ67 all the way to the parking lot at the end of the road, about 23...More

The drive down is wonderful with many overlooks. The short and easy trail is very interesting and informative. Be sure to stop at each kiosk to learn more about the area. The view from the overlook is overwhelming in all directions. I think this would...More

Cape Royal is considered one of the "Grand Slam Viewpoints" in the GCNP along with Bright Angel Point, Point Sublime and Toroweap. The drive might look a little long when looking at the map but it is not to be missed! I have wanted to...More

Less than a mile roundtrip on a paved pathway from the parking lot to the Point. Great views and scenery with a great view of Angels Window and the Colorado River far below! A must to visit this area of the Walhala Plateau!

Don't miss this beautiful drive to Cape Royal and the short trail to the point! Leave early enough for sunrise at the point, if possible. The spectacular views of mind-bending depths give you a whole new (or refreshed) perspective on life!

It’s not hard to see why this is a favorite sight to see in the Grand Canyon. We followed the signs for the North Rim and entered Grand Canyon National Park, then drove the scenic drive up to the parking area. The trail is paved...More

Cape Royal is my favorite overlook out of the ones I have seen on both rims. The best part about it is Angel’s Window. You will recognize it when you see it. You can look right through it and see the Colorado River (a rare...More

If leaving from the lodge give yourself 1/2 hour to travel the 17 miles. The road is somewhat narrow and winding but safe. We saw very few cars during the trip which seems normal for the North Rim. The paved trail at the end of...More
