Out of this world - absolutely stunning

The hike to Cracker lake is a very long hike. It is 18 km (13.5 miles) long. The good part is that it is mostly flat. This is not a very busy trail, so we were very cautious about... read more

This turned out to be a long slog of a hike and we nearly turned around several times...but we did not give up. The reward, is a gorgeous turquoise lake, a slew of great photos and blisters on our feet. The problem is the length of the trail getting there and back and the amount of time you are walking... The hike to Cracker lake is a very long hike. It is 18 km (13.5 miles) long. The good part is that it is mostly flat. This is not a very busy trail, so we were very cautious about bears. This is definitely bear country. Most of the hike travels through a very dense bush so this is a hike where... More

Not for everyone due to length, but well worth the effort. The lake itself is stunning! Saw a huge grizzly across the lake, which was truly awe-inspiring. We were surprised to see many hikers completely without water or other supplies. (If you want to experience Cracker Lake without as much effort, hire a wrangler and ride a horse from Many... More

Ive been to over 30 national parks and this is one of the most beautiful lakes we have in the lower 48! Problem for most people is that its a 13 mile round trip day hike. Or if money is no object to you then you could sign up for a horse ride to the lake. Its not a tough... More

Lovely walk, moderately difficult - but the spring flowers in June and the beauty of the lake at the end made it well worth while. I went early to avoid others, and was rewarded with a moose en route - but also the lake to myself at the end other than a couple of campers. Complete tranquility and much changing... More

This was one of the most rewarding day hikes in memory. It was listed as 6 miles which is a good hike for us. We failed to register that this was one way. We needed to double the distance in order to get back. The hike carries you along the lake, up through a switchback climb in the forest to... More

We did an all-day horseback trail ride to Cracker Lake from the Many Glacier Hotel with Swan Mountain Outfitters. It was fantastic, albeit we were a little sore. The lake is stunning and so worth it. It was nice to see the vistas from the vantage point of a horse. Had a picnic lunch at the turquoise lake.

A relatively easy 12.8 mile hike from the trail head and Many Glacier Hotel parking lot to the very end of the lake. A couple miles in there are a series of switchbacks but that is the most difficult part. Otherwise it's pretty gradual grade changes. The scenery along the way is real nice. The lake itself is phenomenal in... More

We had heard that this hike was a purely "destination hike" in Glacier NP. That description is completely accurate. Most of the trail is through tree jail, with not a lot to see until you just about reach the lake. But once you get there...oh my! The views of the lake and the surrounding cliffs were the best we saw... More

This backcountry hike was amazing! It was relatively easy, 6 miles each way, with nice scenery that lead us to an amazing turquoise lake. The beginning was a bit stinky, as the trail is shared with horses, but after a certain point not as many horses pass through so it gets a little better. The scenery was nice the entire... More
