Lake McDonald gets a top rating, but for the Rocky Point Trail itself I would give a 3.5 rating. Rocky Point trail is an easy, short trail on the west shore of Lake McDonald - not far from the Fish Creek campground and Apgar Village. The Park Service map lists it at about 2+ miles roundtrip, with 120’ gain in... More

After seeing photos of Lake McDonald taken from Apgar Village I just had to stop and grab a few snaps myself. The only regret I had was that I couldn't stay longer and capture the water, the mountains, and the stones in the ever changing light. It was amazingly beautiful.

After a couple of hikes in the morning, we took the lake cruise of Lake McDonald. It was wonderful being on the water and had an informative guide. I thought she was a little unprofessional as she continue personal conversations during the safety briefing. It may only be a formality but, they do those for a reason and it seemed... More

I love Lake McDonald. During the early AM hours, the water is still and reflects many of the surrounding summits. During the PM it is actually a wonderful swimming lake. Weather is also much calmer than St. Mary's lake. Explore and Enjoy...

We took the boat tour around Lake McDonald. It was pretty interesting. It was a great activity for my uncle and dad since we didn't do any hiking. The lake is so pretty with clear water. It wasn't a long boat ride either which was great. I wanted something different to do than just look at it from land. And... More

What a beautiful place! Start with the lodge and just explore the area. There is so much to see here. They have cabins to rent as well as rooms in the lodge, but the lake steals the show! The general store will have any supplies you forgot (including libations) and then hit the water! We took the kayaks out and... More

Glacier National Park is a beauty. It's most beautiful lake is Lake McDonald, which offers crystal clear cold waters with colorful stones in it. I visited in the spring when there was still snow runoff so it was ice cold but gorgeous.

If you are in the park take the boat cruise on Lake McDonald. The lodge is beautiful as is the lake. The man who narrates during the boat ride is a little wordy but he has some very interesting information. I don't recommend eating at the loge, however. There are better places to eat outside the park. It's ok, just... More
