Great Waterfall

Ok, we are waterfall fanatics but this is a really nice falls. As with all hikes here you need to consider there is lots of elevation gain and the altitude makes it seem harder.

It's not as impressive as Virginia Falls, but the hike to Baring Falls is much quicker. It's a pretty flat trail after an initial descent. The falls are not huge but are a decent size and a good photo-op.

This is a great little hike just off of Going-to-the-Sun Road. It is accessible late into the fall and early in the spring as well. There is a little bit of elevation change say maybe a hundred feet but if you're in any type of reasonable shape you can do it! On the other side of the road from the... More

The perking for St. Mary/Virginia Falls was full so having had enough of the crowds at GNP we wandered down Baring Falls trail. It was a fairly short, easy downhill hike to the falls which are more intimate and not as crowded. Lovely.

You can combine this waterfall along with St. Mary Falls and Virginia. However, we did not and once we had hiked to see St. Mary and Virginia, decided to move the car and drove a little further up Going-to-the-Sun road and were able to park at the lot for the short hike to Baring Falls. Nice and easy and a... More

The falls was a short walk from where the St Mary boat tour docked at the end of the lake. The falls is also accessible from the Going to the Sun Rd at Sun Point and Sunrift Gorge. It is a short hike from either location.

We had already done St. Mary's Falls and Virginia Falls, so before returning to the parking at St. Mary's Falls parking lot, we decided to take the ranger"s recommendation to see this one too. This trail was less inhabited by people so I was more nervous about seeing bears along the way. The falls were nice and I'm glad we... More

Since we were already on this trail coming back from St. Mary's Falls, we kept going to this one. The trail was fairly gentle and lots of chances to view the lake. The falls had a good flow.

Baring Falls plunges down a rock cliff into a pretty pool and river below. It can be seen from a short hike from parking area above, along Going to the Sun Road or can be accessed from St Mary Lake via the Glacier Park Boat Tour that departs near Rising Sun. The boat tours the lake, then stops near the... More

If you take the St Mary lake boat cruise they stop for 25 minutes at the Falls, just enough time to enjoy!
