This area is still recovering from the hurricane damage, but you can still hit the beach, sea kayak, and walk many of the trails (including the Coastal Prairie Trail). We found the staff to be very helpful in recommendations. We missed the last canoe trip...More

Maybe we visited out of season but compared with other visitor centres was poor. No facilities for food or water. Considering this is the last port of call would have expected something if at least vending machines. All vending machines in the visitors centres only...More

Closed due to Hurricane Irma, even though this was six weeks after. Most of the park and the trails were closed, and this wasn't advertised upon entrance.

The Visitor's Center was lovely, well-designed, and informative. The staff working the information desk...not so much. We went to the Visitor's Center multiple times for information and consistently received information that was inaccurate or flat out wrong. We were given incorrect information about pricing, about...More

We drove down to Flamingo from the main entrance, knowing the visitor center was still closed due to Irma damage, but it was worth it to see the park, and watch the manatees! The marina was very quiet, and there were about a dozen manatees...More
