Great colours but lack of signposting so I think I stopped before the main vantage point. I thought it was sufficient to see Artists Palette from the main road without the need for the Artists Drive to be honest

Not sure why this place is created separately here because as of my understanding this is part and parcel of Artist's Palette. If you come to visit Artist's Palette view point, you have to take the drive cause there is no way to skip this....More

Artist's Drive was the highlight of our one-day visit to Death Valley National Park. We saw amazingly colorful rock formations. The drive is very scenic. It is located reasonably close to the Furnace Creek Visitor Center.

Driving back from Badwater basin this was an easy detour that you can drive through and stop to take pictures along the way. It was 100 degrees in May around 11am when we were there so we didn’t take long walks. But definitely doable to...More

We went a couple of hours before sunset and I think a little early. Definitely go just before sunset. Also, allow time to stop at one of the many parking spots and get out and walk.

Can be a road block. There are a few turn outs with great views. It really is best viewed in the morning or evening with the sun hitting the mountains.

This was an easy drive, one-way, to see the mountains up close and appreciate all the natural colors. They didn't come out as well as I'd hoped in my photos, but I remember the sight and it was impressive. The colors are sometimes subtle, sometimes...More

Can't hold a candle to the rock formations of Utah, but an interesting and colorful array of rocks, including a pretty hue of blue/green. Visited on a very windy day so hard to get out and explore much without a face full of sand!

The drive gives you sight of the whole range of rock colours from blue to red. The paved road is single track with tight turns and steep gradients.

This is a must do trip. It is about twenty miles round trip ona one way road. The curves are sharp and large vehilcles are not reocoomended. The Artists Paleete is a spectacular view of the rocks.

I'm not sure why this one-way road will be closing, it looked to be in great condition when I was there. I would say the bicycles would be ok but that really depends on what they are doing to the road going through Artist's... More
