What they don't tell you about booking a Crater Lake Boat Tour is that there is VERY limited availability. They release very few seats for reservations ahead of time. They require you to appear onsite to reserve the very few remaining spots 24 hours in advance. I feel very bad for the Xanterra customer service reps who answer phone calls... More

Wizard Island looks stunning sitting in Crater Lake. The views of it were beautiful. If you are at the Crater Lake Lodge, look to your left and you will see it. We didn't see it at first, you have to really look to the left to see it from this location. Wizard Island was visible at all the stop we... More

Where else can you see a small volcano surrounded by one of the world's deepest, clearest lakes inside the crater of a much larger volcano?! Take the Rim Drive for a series of breathtaking views of Wizard Island.

We had read that certain roads my be closed due to the weather. We thought, "It's July 9th, that couldn't possibly affect us." So as we drive through Shasta, it's 72 degrees at 6:45am. When we arrive at the Crater Lake ranger station, the ranger tells us that he hasn't been able to see Wizard Island in 3 days. When... More

Could definitely spend more than 3 hours on this Island. It was great being there with so few people. We we super lucky to get the last 2 tickets at the Kiosk in the lodge on 4th of July, still dunno how we did that, but I recommend buying them ahead of time because you don't want to miss this... Definitely worth paying extra for the Wizard Island Tour. On this trip you get a ranger led tour of the lake and 3 hours on Wizard Island. During your time on Wizard Island you can either hike to the top of the crater and back for fantastic views (we did this with time to spare), walk to a bay where... More

This is the icon in the Lake. If boat tour is possible, it will be absolutely worth to do so. Also good for photo shoots.

The boat rides around and to the island are just a part of this great National Park. We participated in hiking trails that were best at rankings of intermediate and higher difficulty. Many miles of trails and the fabulous views are almost unlimited.

Wizard Island is a small inactive volcano in the middle of Crater Lake. It is very majestic and adds to the beauty of Crater Lake.

Surrounded by blue water Wizard island is the result of a historic volcanic eruption of Mount Mazama. Wizard island is a volcanic mountain within a volcanic mountain. Exciting experience...you can view this from different angles along the rim drive
