This was my first time visiting this National Park, and it was absolutely stunning. There are several areas to stop and take pictures, and the views are absolutely wonderful.

Spectacular! At 7am the West & South entrance was open, by 11am, when we arrived at the Park entrance, we were turned away due to snow and ice. So disappointed, we were four miles away from the park, but the Ranger said we couldn't go in, but that being said the drive there was amazing. From the bottom to the top there was a 13 degree temperature drop. The trees were huge and amazing. We will definitely have to come back when the weather is better.

My first & only issue with the park was when we were entering. The attendant at the booth said there was 'no visibility' today. We were bummed but it was only our first day (of 2), we were getting in for free (we are military) and we had already drove all the way up, so we decided to still go up. We had seen several cars turn around ahead of us after talking to the attendant, presumably because she had told them the same thing.

Turns out, while it was not a beautiful clear blue skies day, it was far from 'no visibility!' We could see everything, all the way to the other side of the lake, 95% of the time! There were a couple times, when we were further up one of the sides of the mountain, that visibility dropped to 0% and we could see nothing but clouds. But that would last 30 seconds if we were just driving. We ended up doing the Rim Drive and saw everything virtually the entire time! So, in conclusion, if the booth attendant says there is 'no visibility' take that with a grain of salt!

The Park is gorgeous though, even outside of the Lake, though that is the obvious star. We also walked Godfrey Glen as we were leaving the 2nd day. I honestly don't remember if there were any stairs at the beginning but otherwise, it's an easy stroll through the woods with some views of the gorge (nothing crazy). If we are able to do it when our kids are older and not babies, we will be back so properly hike more of the paths and go down to the water.

I have lived in Oregon my entire life and have always known about Crater Lake but I had never gone until today. BREATHTAKING! I seriously can't believe I have lived within a few hours of this place and have never been. So beautiful. I wish I had time to tour around a little bit more!

My husband and I along with another couple flew into Eugene, Oregon to visit Crater Lake. We stayed two nights nearby and had one full day to explore Crater Lake. It is a great bargain for seniors who have a National Park Pass. We arrived around 11 am and stayed until 4 pm. We brought granola bars and just snacked on them in the car. We stopped at several overlooks, the gift shop, and hiked one trail. The blue color of the lake was mesmerizing! I probably took over 100 pictures that day at all the overlooks. This was the highlight of my 12 day Pacific Northwest trip!

The views of Crater Lake are really stunning. There is plenty to see and do around Rim Village, but be sure to check out one of the many trails leading from the village. The Garfield Peak trail is a moderate hike with a gorgeous panoramic vista at the summit.

Be sure to arrive early. Even midweek during the summer, the parking lots were filling up by 11:00 AM.

This is a little off the beaten track but worth the effort. It is breathtaking from any angle. The rim drive is a must. You should allow three hours to do it justice

The view is beautiful, and the lake is definitely worth a visit. We went there on a daytrip from Klamath Falls where we were staying. We entered the park, and went to the area near the Lodge where guest facilities were located. Parking was difficult even for a midweek visit in late September. I would expect that during the summer and on weekends it could be a nightmare. We went on a brief one-hour hike along a rim trail that for seniors had its challenging segments but it was a pleasant experience. Having been to Lake Tahoe, Shasta Lake, Lake Geneva and Lake Biwa, like them, it is a lake worth seeing, and has its unique appeal. If I stayed at the lodge, I would only stay for one night, enjoy some of the other easier trails, and then visit other sites in Oregon.

Crater Lake is off the beaten path but every time we visit my Brother in Wa., we make it a point to see this place. It’s view of the lake on a crystal clear day is beyond what words can describe.

My sister and I drove from Ca to Wa. On our way home, we spent half of a day trying to get here. I’m so glad we did. The view of the lake is breathtaking.

Hike, hike, and hike again. So many trails. We spent just 2 nights, but we accomplished a lot sticking to fairly easy and short trails with great views.
Sunrise came first at Watchman's Overlook (just the overlook, not the hike) and Discovery Point.
Then, after breakfast, we headed counter clockwise from Crater Lake Lodge. Sun Notch was a perfect start with an easy .8 mile loop trail that showed us the lake, the phantom ship, and the rim.
From there, we headed to Pinnacles for another easy .8 trek to see the fascinating volcanic spires. No lake views here, but worth it. Get there early before the tiny parking lot fills up.
Next, Plaikni Falls, a big more challenging (but NOT hard) 2 mile hike to see the stream and falls. Again, worth the effort.
Then came the rim drive with lots of stops. Hard to resist stopping at nearly every overlook.
We did not hike down to the water's edge (swimming in the icy water didn't appeal), but we did stop at Cleetwood Cove where there is a huge parking lot with lots of visitors (and rest rooms). A ranger was warning hikers to take water and be prepared for the strenuous hike down (and back up).
Don't miss Sinnott overlook! It's an easy walk down, but check the hours as it's not open all the time.
It was too smoky to see sunset though we tried from the hotel. The fires in OR and CA blew smoke over Crater Lake while we were there, but mostly in the late afternoon and evenings. Getting up early allowed us to hike and see much of the lake before the smoke arrived around 4pm.
One of the best views is from the hotel's porch. Sit in a rocking chair, relax and enjoy!
