This is an impressive formation, but not much more impressive than any other part of the cave. As a whole, the caverns are 6 on a scale of 5.

There are many must sees in the Big Room of Carlsbad Caverns. If you take both loops of the Big Room tour, you will see all the sights. If you take a ranger guided or audio tour, you will know more. There are signs and...More

Unfortunately, 25% of the lights were out due to a lightning strike that penetrated 840 feet into the cave and fried 25% of the lights, so not all the geologic formations were easily viewed.

The Giant Dome is a cave formation in the Big Room. There is a sign along the walkway that points out the Giant Dome. It is beauty.

The Giant Dome is interesting by itself, but is just one of hundreds of formations in the Big Room. Why it needs a separate entry in TA is beyond me, but don't miss it. Pay your admission to the main Cavern and see everything! It's...More

As you stroll around the Big Room you come across this mammoth structure. It is impressive and one of the formations you always see in ads for the Caverns. You have to see it to appreciate its unique beauty and detail.
