after about 2 feet of snow, this was a blast. Not too difficult and mostly easy to follow the trail. There were too many clouds to see the full view - but what we did see was great. The trail itself was challenging and fun. We did a loop to the carriage road which ended up being UPHILL. Oh my,... More

Day Mountain can be accessed via a short, moderate hiking trail or by walking or biking an easier, but longer route along the carriage trail. There are also horse carriages that offer rides to the top. The trail isn't as crowded as some of the more popular attractions, so you can relax and enjoy the scenery without feeling rushed to... Great, different, relaxing and unusual. What's not to like!!! Bring a sweater as it can get cooler when the sun goes down even in summer. Enjoy the views.

It is challenging, maybe for real hikers it would be called moderate, but you are climbing the whole time. It is lush with ferns, mossy rocks. Amazing.

We were fortunate to be able to ride our horses up here in late summer. It's a moderate climb but the footing is super. We met lots of hikers. The view is gorgeous and well worth all the effort.

This is for seniors. Day Mountain starts out in the woods, with a couple of boardwalks and a bit of rock in the path. Grandma can do this one unless she has knee problems. As a 77-year-old you may huff and puff a bit, but it's worth it for the views at the top. But then, most of the Acadia... More

This was a truly beautiful hike!! Our kids were grouchy at first because they wanted something more challenging. They quickly changed their minds. The views were amazing.

Easy hike, clear, well-marked trails. Take a picnic lunch and eat it while gazing at the ocean from on high.

This short trail leads to a gorgeous view of Frenchman Bay. For those less inclined you can return down after 500 ft but so you know peak bagging then next three can be done in a day. (The triad, pemetic and Caddilac)

Lovely view of the bay. Carriage road winds around, and there is a walking trail, too. You can pick wild blueberries in the summer at the summit. This is not as busy as Cadillac mountain and offers more quiet and solitude.
