Nice little information center with of course, helpful and friendly staff. There are maps available but they do charge for the hiking trail maps. This is one of the smaller centers. Hulls cove is bigger and has a short movie and more souvenirs available if you are into collecting

Must visit. This small information center is just before one enters the Mount Desert island. The center is manned by a Ranger from Acadia National Park and from local chambers of Commerce. This place is equipped with all the maps and other literature of Acadia National Park, as are available in main Visitor Center at Hull's Cove. The representatives from... More

The Thompson Island Visitor Center of Acadia National Park is operated jointly by the National Park Service and the local Chamber of Commerce. This is where I got the plastic cardholder for my national parks pass for admission to Acadia National Park. I also got some information and a park map, plus the passport cancellation stamps associated with this location.... More

This VIC is right off the road to MDI from the mainland. There's not much to see or do here. But you can talk to an attendant if you have any questions, or get your park pass and skip the lines in the Visitor centers at the park entrances

We rolled in on a Sunday & before we headed to the campground I told my husband we had to stop & get our park pass here. I read from other reviewers that this was the not crowded place to go. They also have other info there about Mount Desert Island & Bar Harbor. Unfortunately, there was no National Park... More

If you decided to take a spur-of-the-moment trip to Acadia, this is a fabulous resource. The staff will help you figure out what your options are for where to stay. If you are camping, they can tell you which campgrounds have openings that day, or how far away from the island you are going to have to stay to find... More

This is the first visitor center that you will encounter if you drive from the north into Acadia. The ranger was knowledgeable and there were some people from the chamber of commerce who would help out making reservations for accommodation. You can stamp your passport here and buy an entry pass if you don't have the annual pass (which you... More

We want to thank the lady that was working on the day we arrived for our stay at Acadia. She told us the Bass Harbor Seawall are for a fantastic place for a nice picnic. We spent the afternoon in the Bass Harbor area visiting a few trails and then ended the afternoon picnicking at the Seawall picnic area. You'll... More
