The mountain is closed to cars in winter. Part of the loop road is accessible by car and worth the drive. There are many easy hikes, even in winter. The carriage roads are great for hiking/snowshoeing. We love this area all year long. The rough...More

Beautiful drive to the top of the mountain. Parking was a little bit of a problem but it was well worth our time to wait for a spot. There is a small path that gives multiple views.

Excellent view and road through the mountains. Only issue was with parking. Could not find any near the sand beach. Map provided is also very useful.

The sunrise from Cadillac Mountain is breathtaking. Get there early to get a parking spot but plan on relaxing and enjoying the views for a while.

Awesome natural wonder with inspiring views of Mount Desert Island. There are lots of overlooks and photo opportunities. The granite has a pinkish hue and you can walk down the mountain a bit to find a place to sit and take in the view more...More

We visited here in July. It was an easy car ride to the top. 360 degree view on the summit. Very scenic.

Drive up here and walk around on the rocks and take in the great views! And, yes, it is often windy up here at 1,530 feet up.

There is so much to see and getting around requires a map, a small car and the blessings of the 'parking gods'--there are several options rather than the do-tit-yourself approach in the park and in town. Local looping buses (6 different routes) are supplied to...More

I am not sure what time the Visitor Center opens. And I don't think there was a gate to get onto the main entrance loop road or the road to Cadillac Mountain. You are supposed to purchase park tickets at the main Visitor... More

If I recall correctly the park is open 24 hours a day. Go to Acadia park website and you will find a more definite answer.
