Was I every surprised when I saw not once, but twice, a pileated woodpecker. I am not much of a birder, but these were magnificent! I had separately seen the damage that they can cause to some of the local trees. Saw several osprey and on the Sea Princess tour (from Southwest Harbor) did see a Bald Eagle. It was... More

Went to Acadia to see this wonderful National Park and it's beautiful surroundings. Our family visited Jesup Path on July 27, 2015. You can get to the path by accessing Sierra De Mont in the park loop going towards Sand Beach. We asked and found out this was the best place to see area birds and we were not disappointed!... More

We had a wonderful three hour bird hike guided by a talented young park ranger, Patrick Kark. He led us through a variety of habitats with a relaxed way of sharing his considerable knowledge and birding skill without showing off. Had a great view of a Barred Owl, saw and heard a number of warblers, and finished up at Precipice... More

You'll know what they say about the early bird.... You'll need to be one yourself if you want to see lots of interesting birds. We started at 7am at the Nature Center. Dress appropriately for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring binoculars. Our NPS Ranger, Todd, did a great intro to Birding, catching everyones attention with his extensive knowledge... Given that we were birding in late August, our guide had a challenge finding *many* birds. However, he was very knowledgeable about birding and he was also very good at explaining basics to the beginners in the group. On this trip, which started near the gardens at the Nature Center and then continued on to Jesup Trail and then Beaver... More

We went birding with the guide from the Nature Center. He was prepared and presented interesting commentary. We did see a number of birds on the walk. We stayed in the harbor area and on the Shore path.

Bring along your binoculars and Bird Book, because you are in for a treat if you take pretty much any of the trails in the Park. There are a variety of birds who live here year-round and many who stop by on their way to Canada or down south for the winter. There are Eagles, Peregrine Falcons, Chickadees, Pine Siskens,...
