After a long walk up we. found the castle or what remains of it. We thought 4 euros each quite expensive when there is little to see and no toilet facilities or refreshments on site.(well both closed at the end of May) Lovely views over...More

Great views of the Island. Lovely to walk through the trees. Not a lot of the fort left but interesting. Took about 1 hour & 15 minutes to see all the fort area & some nice taverna's near by.

There were few obvious paths cut in the grass/weeds so it was tough to negotiate our way round some parts. The signs/maps were minimal on detail. Fabulous views down over Zakynthos harbour and the surrounding areas. Somewhere fun for the kids to run around and...More

It's a bit of a climb but worth it for the beautiful views of Zante town. There were hundreds of wild flowers in bloom with bees buzzing round and the paths easy to follow through the pine trees. There are lots of cafes in the...More

This is not like big castle and one should not have big imagination of grand castle as in Other European cities or Indian subcontinent. There is not much to see as historical evidences but green surroundings and nice view point with Greek Flag motivates you...More

HI I read a review that you can't take a backpack with you into the castle grounds. Does that mean all bags. I wanted to take water and sun tan lotion and camera with us. What time does the castle open and which days please

Since we took wrong on the time and days I doubt I am the one who answer the openinh hours. But I'd believe you can take that in, in a smaller bag or something. I took my camerabag in and there were no problems.

I think the other answers have this covered but I would echo what they have said. If I were coming from the town then I would probably take a taxi there, or enjoy the lovely walk up through the trees (if you can find the... More
