About
"Shinjuku-batting-center" serves as a landmark of "Kabuki-cho." Entrance to an institution is no charge. When enjoying "BATTING," it is 300 yen 1 time, and they are 26 ball. I am preparing a bat, shoes, and a glove for nothing. There is also a place which enjoys pitching. Please come for play.

Neighbourhood: Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.

Great fun with friends and family. The batting centre was a nice, slice of life attraction.

Absolutely amazing as a late night activity and great to perfect your batting practice!

The staff were all amazing and immensely friendly. They all helped us feel welcome, kindly explained the rules and recommended the best cage for our use.

Will certainly try this again on my next visit.

Came here to pass time before our flight. Only ¥300 for 20 or 25 balls. Speeds from 80kph - 130kph to choose from. Good times. I'm no pro, but I have played years of baseball - looking back at the videos of myself, not many balls thrown by the machine were strikes... Mostly below the knees or neck height, rarely over the plate.. :/

The Japanese appear to be obsessed with baseball, and going to a batting centre to hit a few balls after work is a common way for Japanese businessmen to unwind after a long way at the office. We decided to give this a go ourselves. We went to the 70km/hr cage where we got 26 balls thrown to us for 300 yen. I was a bit nervous about doing it, but I ended up doing pretty well. After 26 balls I was pretty tired. My husband liked it so much he had another go. This batting centre is cheaper and seems more authentic than another one that we looked at in the area. The downside is that smoking is permitted inside the building.

This was around the corner from my hotel in Shinjuku. It's ¥300 for 26 pitches. There's varying paces you can choose from and there's a money changing machine for coins. Saw some pretty good old timers having a swing at the super fast pitches. Don't have these back home so it was fun time to have a go with some friends!

Amazing fun and very affordable. Recommended for all tourists at least once. Got addicted and played 13 games of 22 balls straight (286 ball throws). Cost 4,000 Yen and I was absolutely hammered! Hit 3 home runs under the 110km/h speed. I would recommend picking the 80/90/100km/h speed settings for a beginner/intemediate. Then, after a few games, move to lane 4/5 for 110/120/130km/h to test yourself against a faster pitch. After 13 games, my hands are covered in blisters. Please look after yourself and don’t do 13 games straight like me. Overall, wonderful experience!

I read about this place through Tripadvisor and included into our itinerary only as a "time filler". It so happened that we were in the vicinity, so no harm checking this place out. Boy, were we glad we did. It was just good old clean fun. The place is nothing spectacular, but for 300yen, you get to bat between 22-26 balls, and you can choose varying speeds. The place is opened daily from 10am - 4am, so if you need a good sweat session before sleep, you know where to head it. We don't have this in Singapore, so it's quite an experience for my teenage son. We returned for a 2nd visit and I think we ended up spending more than a few thousand yen. Very enjoyable.

The facility is open long hours and into the early hours with no reservation required. During busier times you may need to queue outside the cage you wish to use. Different cages have different ball speeds, indicated by a sign above the door. Each batter is separated by a dividing net although it did not run the full length of the individual cage so a few mishit balls bounced into me from another cage, which was distracting. The price was very reasonable at 300 Yen (cash was required for the coin operated machine in the cage and there was a change machine on site). There were also some arcade games and a drinks vending machine at the facility.

300 yen for like 20 balls, perfect. Also there’s a drum arcade machine and some other machines. Worth going.

Our flight was at midnight, so we hadn't planned anything too touristy for our final day in Japan. I am so glad that we did this because it was so much fun!

It's 300yen a pop and no communication is necessary. Put on your (shared) gloves, grab a bat and put the coins in the machine. Balls will start being chucked at you.

Go to the cages on the far right for the slower speeds. I'd never hit a baseball in my life, but managed to whack a fair few. There weren't many customers so we spent a lot of time there! Afterwards, we went bowling (5 mins away).

Cons as with most places like this in Japan: SMOKING INDOORS, gag. I wouldn't use the female toilets if I were you either.

As someone who has never hit a baseball before this really is quite good wholesome fun. The instructions are minimal, all you need is 300 yen and the machine throws 26 balls at you. You will most likely have aching arms after unless you do this regularly.

When we went it was quite empty, but there are a few arcade machines there to play if you had to wait. Overall the place is a little run down but that’s not really the point of this place.

Some extra things to note, each bay has a specific throwing speed, as a beginner I could only reliably hit the slowest one (70kph) and missed the majority of the 80kph above. They supply bats and gloves (which are reused and some may prefer to avoid this).
