    A replica of past power
Whilst the exterior of the castle is very impressive, it is a rebuild of its original style. The last Shogun destroyed the castk built by his predecessors and it was rebuilt from Community contributions in the 1930s. Today it is a shell for a museum and has no indications of its structure or military aspects. It is hard to compare to Himeji or Matsumoto castles which are authentic and withstood centuries of war, earthquake and weather events

    Raining during the visit
Despite the heavy rain, it was amazing to see people still flock to the castle (maybe cuz of tour groups). But the castle sits on top of a hill surrounded by waters and garden. It was nice, but the rain made it less fun as we were wet and cannot explore much around😭. There were plenty of Sakura trees along the river before the castle.

    Beautiful castle even the replica
We cam in a good weather day and the path leading to the castle with many Sakura tree line up with all flowers. Very impressive. We did not go in the Castle as It takes a long queue to wait but we enjoyed walking around and taking some pictures

    Reminiscing Japanese heritage and culture
This is a place where one can reminisce Japanese heritage and culture. The architecture of the castle is beautiful and has lush greenery in the vicinity. Enjoy the stroll to the castle as it’s akin to walk in the park as one enjoys the breeze and beauty of the surrounding.

    Top Site in Osaka
This is the most impressive structure in Osaka and well worth a visit. Its located in a huge park area that especially during cherry blossom season is gorgeous. It is a tall, beautiful structure with bronze highlights and was featured in the final battle in the book, “Shogun”. The walls of the castle are impressive for the size of the rocks and their girth as they plunge into the surrounding moat. We chose to only tour the castle itself and not the turrets which took several hours alone. You should know that the castle has multiple floors which have been reconstructed as exhibit rooms to tell the history of the castle in relation to Japanese history instead of staying true to its original purpose which was for defense. Since it is a very popular spot they have created a one-way track to follow which starts with entering an elevator to the top floor, then you proceed downwards through the rooms seeing the historical presentations. The cost of admission is easily paid for by the view from the top floor where you walk completely around for a 360-degree view of the city stretching below. I found the contemporary paintings of the final battle from “Shogun” the best display as you could see the flags of the different generals and leaders during the melee.

Facade is gorgeous, but inside is not worth the admission.
Don’t bother paying to go inside, it’s not worth it as it is completely modern museum on the inside. Instead, just enjoy the outside of the castle, as it is beautiful! I recommend going on a day trip to Himeji Castle to experience what the inside would have looked like.

    Beautiful castle
Very nice castle with totally Japanese feel outside and in. We went all the way to the top and the view from the terrace is very peaceful as the castle has a lake and garden around it and you can see far away city view but the water and the garden is amazing. The castle itself is also beautiful with meaningful displays and there are videos playing in different corners of each floor talking about history of each display if you have time. It's totally worth the visit.

Free to see the Exterior and the park!
One of the most remarkable sights we have seen so far in Japan. It's located close to several subway lines. The crowds were not bad at all. The grounds also include lavatories, restaurants, vending machines and a fantastic park with lots of hidden magical views.

    Breathtaking.
This is my second visit to Japan and Osaka. Osaka doesn't have many tourist attractions but this is a must. Really beautiful. You can just walk around the Castle Park and take in the views but I suggest going inside to really explore and appreciate it.

    Stunning Beauty but Very Crowded
There's a lot to see if you include the surrounding park. We were with an individual guide but unfortunately on a schedule. There was quite a line to get inside and we did not have that time to wait. It's an impressive structure surrounded by a beautiful park. Photo opportunities abound. There's even a time capsule in the plaza area. We were there on a beautiful, sunny Sunday so everything was overrun with people which did detract from the experience. You can walk to the nearby train station in about 15-20 minutes.

A very historical and beautiful place to take photos. A good layout means visitors are not crowded together. So clean, so neat and so well maintained... However, you need to bring a plastic bag to store food and drink waste because trash cans are rarely seen.

Unlike most of the other historical exhibits or museums we had visited, here in Osaka castle they have English translation so you can follow the route and pause to read their background and explanations. You can either start from the bottom and climb the stairs to the observatory or queue for the lift to the very top and walk down floor by floor.

Osaka Castle is a prominent landmark of Osaka. Built by the “Napoleon of Japan,” it represents the bloody power struggles prior to the Edo period. The castle had to be rebuild several times due to fires and conflicts. Located in the heart of the city, it offers a restful green space. Two options to go up, elevator or stairs. Going up to the top yields a panoramic view o the city. Walking down, each level is a museum displaying some artifacts. There is a picturesque stop to take a photo with the Japanese garden in the forefront and the castle in the background.

Outlook of the castle is great. You can learn the castle history in the castle. Top floor a 360 degree view of Osaka. Payable to enter castle which pov thinks that outside of the castle is the buying point.

We visited the Osaka while staying in Osaka. The castle is beautiful! There are souvenir and cafes next to it. We didn’t go inside since we just visited the Himeji Castle the day prior. Definitely a must visit if you’re in Osaka.

One of the places of historical significance. The place is beautiful and serene especially in the morning. Lots of areas to pass through before reaching the castle itself.

Osaka Castle is located in a beautiful park. The approach to the castle is beautiful and inside is even better. Tickets are really cheap, like around 6USD I think (December 2023). Be prepared for a bit of stair climbing. There's an elevator that will take you to the 5th level, but there are attractions on all levels 2-8. So if you have any hesitancy about walking up 8 flights, take the elevator to 5, see the exhibits on the upper floors, including the observation deck, which gives you a beautiful 360 degree view of Osaka, then walk down to each level, looking at the exhibits along the way to the ground floor.

This is an attraction visited by many people. We went in the morning just as it opened. It is surrounded by a very beautiful garden and since it was Sunday, there were a lot of people running around the track. The castle is steeped in history and most exhibits have more than one language for the explanation. It got crowded as the day went on.
