Easy to walk around this well preserved old castle. Beautiful sakura all over the grounds. Lots of people sitting on plastic sheets drinking saki and enjoying the spring air.

The ruins of Fukuoka Castle are located in, what is now called, Maizuru Park. Most of the castle was destroyed and is gone now but large portions of the wall are still standing. Given the fastness of the area involved the castle grounds look to...More

Based on reviews and other readings, I expected the castle ruins to be small and unimpressive. When coming here and actually walking around, I found the remains to be the complete opposite. I walked here from Ohori Park, once during the day and again at...More

For the most part, all that remains of the castle are walls. There is one turret and one building. It is otherwise a pleasant but unremarkable urban park.

The ruins it selves are not very impressive and large, but nice to visit if you are in the neighbourhood. From the top you have a nice overview over a big part of Fukuoka. For visiting you must climb stairs and a steep hill, so...More

As the other review have said, there isn't much to see but it is cool to walk around. If you make it to the top, you'll get a good view of the city.

Nice area, large area, very historic but undergoing some maintenance right now so access to the whole Castle is limited. I suspect and seem to remember that they are in the process of securing if after earthquakes.

While being shown around town today by a local friend we visited the old castle grounds and ruins. Not a lot to see anymore but one can still feel the history there as you cross the moat covered in water Lilly’s, walk past the massive...More

The ruins of the 17th century castle is part of a small park. Visitors usually get on top of the ruins to have a nice view of the city. There is no much to see unless once visits during cherry blossom.
