What an amazing temple! You cannot take photos inside this Hindu temple but the images of the 1000 life-size statues and an enormous Buddha will be always captured in your memories. Really recommend it!

An amazing experience accompanied by a rain storm. The latter got us all wet, and the former was a very interesting tour of a temple showing some of the links between Japanese and Indian religions. The 1001 statues were a real eye opener!

Even though I lived in Japan for quite some time, I never got to experience Kyoto. Visiting this temple is a wonderful introduction to the Buddhist faith. The 1001 statues of the Kanno, are impressive along with other visual representations of Buddhist deities.

This temple is rather plain from the outside, the real interest is inside! The statues are really impressive! If you can stay inside that is. There is a lot of traditional incense going on, which gave me a light headache, and might be worse for...More

We stumbled upon this temple by chance, it was mid /late afternoon and although somewhat busy, it wasn’t overcrowded. The temple is huge and everyone inside was respectfully quiet so it never felt busy.

You can take a taxi. And yes, there should be cherry blossoms in early April!
