The scenery on the drive was stunning and they continued on our walk to nugget point. Unlike other reviewers, there was only about 20 people when we went, so I didn't find it busy. Amazing wild-life on the way- fur seals and sea lions.
The drive to area is only 20 mins from Town good parking and signage is well located along the way walk is about 900 m uphill but not overly steep, the view at the lighthouse is worth the time we could even hear the baby...More
10/10 it was the most BEAUTIFUL and PHOTOGENIC place I visited. We saw so many seals swimming around in the clear water with their babies. The views are wonderful. The walk there is easy and is stunning the entire way. An absolute must visit.
Our visit was fitted in as a side trip during a drive from Dunedin to Te Anau. We had spotted the detour was about 60km and weren’t sure whether to embark on the extra driving. In the end we were glad we had. The road...More
What a great way to spend a couple of hours - by the time we had walked out to the Lighthouse ( not far and not difficult ) and spent some time just admiring the views and the walk back we had killed at least...More
The foot path from the car park to the light house is well maintained and so it needs to be for the number of people making the walk. There are some good photos to be had as you walk along the foot path. Look down...More
We got here actually pretty late in the late afternoon/early evening, but that didn´t matter - the sight is incredible - the nature stunning and beautiful and it´s worth the walk up to the lighthouse - you don´t want to miss out on the rocks...More

Hi. We drove from Balclutha so I can't help regards approach from Dunedin. The gravel road we travelled on wouldn't have been more than 3 or 4 kilometres at the most. As gravel roads go i would say that it was pretty good and easy to navigate and shouldn't cause you any worries. The arrival point at Nugget Point is a very large car parking area. There are toilets. The walk from the carpark wouldn't be more than a kilometre and a half. The path is well maintained. You will get glimpses of the lighthouse as you approach along the path. As I say, take care if you have small children as there are a few places where the path is exposed. I would grade the walk as easy. I have heart failure and suffered a cardiac arrest about 2 weeks before this trip but I managed it without difficulty. Hope this helps. Allan
