Getting there is easy. The road is now more or less entirely surfaced. The road from Kaka Point gets increasingly up and down and more winding and it narrows in places but is an easy drive. The lighthouse is 900 m from the car park. An easy if up and down walk and is slightly exposed in some places. We... More

Great views and very beautiful. we spotted many seals. There is a short walk to the lighthouse and I would recommend a stop here.

Loved this area! Thought views equal to Great Ocean Road trip we did in Australia with less distance to travel to see wonderful breathtaking views. This view of the walk to the lighthouse is one of our favourite shots we took. The day we visited was sensational weather which makes the difference. Highly recommend!

This very busy tourist spot, is worth visiting in all weathers and all times of day, night. Great views and bird life. Great car park & toilets. Easy access also to Roaring Bay to see the Yellow Eyed Penguins, dawn & dusk only (do NOT get between birds and shoreline - stay above the beach) and YOU are the only... More

This is a must see when traveling through the Catlins! It is free and the views are breathtaking. It was a sunny day and the walking path was clear and easy to follow. Although visitors are not allowed to enter the lighthouse, it was closely viewed. The car parking is free and has adequate toilets.

This place is a bit remote but well worth the visit. I was expecting unsealed roads, but the road access was actually sealed.

Well marked track which isn't difficult as there are SO MANY people there. Car park was full, difficult to get a park, but once you are there, views are worth the drive.

A bit of a drive to the car park and a walk after that but well worth it. Be sure to do it if you are in the area.

The first day upon our arrival it couldn't be more foggy but we stayed at the campsite near Nugget Point and saw the lighthouse and amazing "nuggets" the day after. One of the best landmarks in the South of New Zealand, a must do spot! Binoculars recommended - home of the seals.
