Trust me! It’s worth a visit...but not necessarily for the Lighthouse alone...it’s the spectacular views!! BRING BINOCULARS!! There are dozens of seals and babies down below, but harder to see without binoculars.

Absolutely well worth the straight-forward walk out to the light house. Lots of photo opportunities and with a seal colony basking on the rocks below the track.

Its only 1.5 hours drive from Dunedin and very close to Balclutha. If you're in the south island, this is a 'must go' place. Not much to see, but the lighthouse and the rocks gradually dipping into the Pacific are great subjects for photographers. I...More

Fantastic walk out to Nugget Point where a lighthouse is perched on a spur of land. The walk is not difficult being relatively flat and only about 20minutes in length. I probably took longer as I was taking so many photos. The scenery is breathtaking....More

The scenery on the drive was stunning and they continued on our walk to nugget point. Unlike other reviewers, there was only about 20 people when we went, so I didn't find it busy. Amazing wild-life on the way- fur seals and sea lions.

10/10 it was the most BEAUTIFUL and PHOTOGENIC place I visited. We saw so many seals swimming around in the clear water with their babies. The views are wonderful. The walk there is easy and is stunning the entire way. An absolute must visit.

Our visit was fitted in as a side trip during a drive from Dunedin to Te Anau. We had spotted the detour was about 60km and weren’t sure whether to embark on the extra driving. In the end we were glad we had. The road...More

A short walk to a very high view point. It's a long ways down but you can see seals on the beach. The parking lot is small however the turnover is fast.
