Dave is a tour guide extraordinaire, and all my expectations were exceeded on the tour of the north of Ireland that I went on in October 2022. Dave identified stunning, off-the-beaten-path spots to visit and allowed us time to enjoy them through beautiful hikes and exploration. We stayed at warm, friendly places throughout Ireland, and we ate very well. He was incredibly knowledgeable about all things Ireland - arts, politics, culture, religion, myths - I learned a lot and enjoyed how he presented information in a way that seemed accessible and seamless throughout the trip. He also made an effort to get to know us and cared about what the individuals in the group were interested in and adjusted the tour accordingly where was possible. Finally, Ireland felt very open as it concerns COVID - no issues there. Highly recommend Wolfhound!

We just completed the Wolfhound Northern Tour with Dave O’Connor and had a wonderful time. We don’t usually do tours, preferring to explore on our own, but loved the Wolfhound tour. It was amazing how many different sights and activities we fit into six days. We enjoyed the gorgeous hiking, comfortable B+Bs, and getting to meet different people, including a weaver, a shepherd, and local musicians. Dave is a master story teller, explaining everything from ancient history to modern Irish politics and everything in between. We got to visit many gorgeous and remote sights away from the crowds, while listening to Dave’s perfectly curated music playlist. It was also great not having to worry about driving in Ireland. Dave tailored the tour and activities based on the interests of our group, accommodating different requests and hiking abilities. We highly recommend touring with Wolfhound!

As someone who typically runs in the other direction at the sight of a tour bus, I was blown away by how wonderful a tour can be when done well. Dave offers his own unique version (and in my opinion the very best version) of what a tour can be. It was getting dropped off along a country road and walking miles along cliffs by the sea, spending time playing Gaelic games on beaches no one else knows about, and being dropped off at the best local restaurants without having to do a single Yelp search. Dave is clearly passionate about what he does. From offering various options for the day to suit all interests, to having a curated playlist that provides the perfect background music for the trip, to not being afraid to say “girlies, less talking and more eating” so we could stay on schedule (and I mean that in the nicest way), Dave is a true gem. I love adventure travel, avoiding the crowds, and getting a flair for local culture, and this tour did all of that and more…. And I didn’t have to do any planning or research! I would recommend this tour, or any tour with Dave, a thousand times over. Perfection.

Just got back from my 2nd trip with Dave and it did not disappoint! I went w/ a close group of friends in their 40s with different activity levels and interests. As always Dave made sure everyone was taken care of and logistics managed in a Covid safe way. As an avid traveler, I’ve definitely been spoiled by the Wolfhound experience and have yet to have a similar one anywhere else! book w/wolfhound for an amazing Ireland experience!

I did the 6 day north trip. This is my second tour with Dave, and it was yet again magnificent. This time I roped a bunch of my friends into coming on the tour, and we all got to experience the gorgeous sights of the north of Ireland, and immerse ourselves in its history. We went on pretty hikes to cliffs (including Giants Causeway), villages, and cities while learning about the legends and history of them.
Visiting the Bogside neighborhood in Derry and the black cab tour of Belfast while being coached up on the painful history of these sites moved me in ways that I didn't quite anticipate. Dave brought to life the soul of these areas with his engaging history and culture lessons.
Dave very quickly figured out what we all were hoping to get out of this trip, and managed to cater it to everyone's interests. We had one birder on the trip whom he took under his wing (sorry) and helped her spot tons of birds in the area. Another was into poetry, so he focused some of his talks about Yeats and recited his poetry while driving. He did this all with a sense of humor about Ireland, himself, and all of us. By the end we were all cracking jokes about each other's idiosyncrasies, as if he'd been in our friend group forever.
I hope someday I'll get to do another trip with Dave.

My husband and I just got back from the most amazing trip with Wolfhound Adventures! We did the North tour with a group of friends, and had an incredible time. Dave, the owner and tour guide, was extremely knowledgeable about Irish history, politics, folklore, culture... we learned so much and felt like we had a deeper understanding of Ireland. Plus he is just a lovely and friendly guy whose passion and love for what he does shines through every step of the way. The places Dave took us were amazing. We got to visit beautiful farms, hike along the cliffs near Giant's Causeway, go to cozy pubs in charming wee villages, visit beaches, experience the amazing scenery of Donegal, go to a spa and have a seaweed bath, learn about the interesting history of Northern Ireland in Derry and Belfast, and so much more. He prioritized taking us to the gems that were off the beaten trail and not "touristy". He did a great job of tailoring the options of activities to the interests of the group when time allowed. Some people wanted to do longer hikes, some people wanted to relax with a pint, some wanted to go bird watching, and he made all of it happen. We all really felt like we could relax and turn all of the planning over to him and enjoy our vacation. By the end of this trip, we were already planning our next trip to Ireland and another tour with Wolfhound! Touring with Wolfhound and Dave O'Connor is definitely the best way to see Ireland!

My experience on the 6 Day Southwest Adventure tour with Wolfhound led by the owner/operator and all around good guy, Dave O'Connor isn't one I'll ever forget. The care and consideration Dave takes with his clients & everyone he interacts with - along with the beautiful accommodations, amazing outdoor opportunities, and flexibility to choose activities makes this tour not only incredibly fulfilling but also an incredible value. After the tour ended I stayed in Ireland for an additional week arranging for day tours and hotels/Airbnbs. The accommodations I arranged for myself were pricey & nowhere near the quality of what is offered through Wolfhound. The day tours were pitiful compared to what I experienced with Dave; in fact on one tour the driver left 2 passengers behind after waiting only 7 minutes with no sign of really caring about their outcome & no warning that this would happen if late to return. On another small group tour, the van was in such poor condition that safety felt compromised. Wolfhound is the opposite of this - Dave went above and beyond and drove one of our group members back to a jewelry store to exchange a ring, dropped people off for special hikes, arranged for golfing, kayaking, climbing Skellig Michael, all while doing everything possible to keep the van clean and in excellent working condition. I so appreciated that we didn't go to touristy areas and never waited in long queues to enjoy the beauty of Ireland.
Grab your hiking boots and get ready for the trip of a lifetime with Wolfhound!

My husband and I just got home from our awesome Wolfhound Adventure tour of Ireland's south west, run/guided by Dave O'Connor. It was exactly what I had hoped for - a small group tour with days packed with activities and adventure! Dave not only tailored the trip to the group's interests, we also learned about Irish history, interesting and funny stories and facts about the towns we were visiting. I also liked that with the smaller tour bus (which was modern and comfy) we could travel down the smaller roads and visit places where there weren't crowds of tourists. We were looking for an active tour and we got in lots of walking/hiking on our tour which was a great way to enjoy all the beautiful coastal scenery. The kayaking trip in Dingle Bay along cliffs and into caves was great too. The trip to Skellig Michael island to climb the 600 steps to an ancient monastery was definitely a top 10 lifetime travel event - words can't really do it justice.
Dave tried to make sure everyone got to do something that they had a special interest in. For example, he drove my husband to drop him off for a golf game and made sure a lady that loved pottery got to a famous pottery shop.
Dave also took COVID measures such as cleaning the bus surfaces, having masks and hand sanitizer available and wearing a mask himself on the bus. Although not mandatory, we and most other people also wore masks while on the bus just to keep everyone healthy. The inns and B&Bs we stayed at were very nice with great breakfast choices (hot food and cold buffet items). Overall, this was an excellent tour that was great value and we're very happy we went with Dave's Wolfhound Adventures!

I just returned home (to Canada) from the most amazing 6 Day Southwest Adventure tour of Ireland with Wolfhound Tours! Dave was a fantastic guide- his knowledge of Irish legends, language, history, music, wildlife, and sports was very impressive. He was always on time and was diligent in cleaning his 14 seater van to help keep us all healthy. He had masks and hand sanitizer on the bus even though they are no longer required in Ireland. The hikes and scenery on this tour were unbelievable and Dave did offer some alternative options when time allowed. All of the small hotel-style bed and breakfasts that he chose were nice, clean, and had conformable beds. They provided both high quality hot and also buffet breakfast options and accommodated gluten-free diets. Our group often picked up snacks for a picnic lunch and were given guidance on great restaurant choices for supper. We did not have a single bad meal on this tour. This tour is for individuals who are able to walk/climb stairs for long periods of time and who are able to pack relatively light. Waterproof hiking shoes and jackets are a must. After supper, Dave would recommend fun traditional Irish pubs with music and a good pint of beer for anyone who was interested. If I am ever fortunate enough to make it back to Ireland, I will, without a doubt, only travel with Wolfhound.

In a repeat use of touring with this small group ( limited to 14 passengers) company all I can say is I’m ready to do it again. My second experience, and I mean experience with wolfhound tours, confirmed what great tours are supposed to be. They provide the opportunity to escape the crowds and see the country side , all the while being privy to tails of legends, history, culture, wildlife….to have an experience worth remembering and leave a longing for a repeat.

Take a hike, see ancient sites, a seaweed bath, a bike ride. And amazing scenery at every turn. It’s a pretty beautiful place, with wonderful people and adventures to be had. All curated by a wonderful guide, willing to share a love of the place.
And wolfhound brought it all to me.
My wife, daughter and niece went along. All are second timers. We shared the tour with a wonderful collection of experience seekers.
From the start we start from a central pick up point in Dublin. If you’re like us you probably want to get into town a day or more before. You definitely need the night life experience in Temple Bar or more tame ones a block or two away. (We hit Darkey Kelly’s) Recommend you don’t go full out in the pubs before the tour… I’ve seen the results.
Picked up, greeted warmly, our guide is everything you need for a great visit. Its all explained, the itinerary, what kind of stops and activities were ahead. And a clear understanding that if needed things were flexible and backup options would be made… and they were, for weather issues, seeking to have the party avoid wet hiking/biking plans for the Aran island and instead visit the Kylemore Abbey , a beautiful historic house and estate, entirely worth it. We got to Aran the next day with better weather for those adventures…
Flexibility and the knowledge you’re in capable hands while traveling and that they are actively engaged and working to give you the taste of a place and what it has to offer.
All I can say is I’m ready to do it again. My second experience, and I mean experience with wolfhound tours, confirms what a great tour experience is.
They do 3 tour routes and I hope for a return and complete my one remaining… or just doing one over again… keeping options open and adjusting and updating their program, all but insurers an adventure worthy of experience.

There is so much more that I can say about this! Details and specific events, maybe later.
