Check out the rooftop view
Sep 2019
A pleasant enough wine shop and when we were there there was a large group doing a wine tasting. But the best bit for us was the elegant little electric lift in the courtyard which takes you to the roof for some excellent views. Not to be missed when in Barolo.

Discovering Barolo’s Way

Nice but not exciting visit. However the tasting was really satisfying and the wines were absolutely fantastic! Borgogno is a great name synonymous with guarantee. Recommended.

Great wines, but an overrated tour and truly bad tastning
Jul 2019 • Couples
The wines from this winery is absolutely great. But don´t drink/buy them here... The tour was good and informative, but not genuin or personal. It was really hard to get a connection with the guide and hard to ask questions. Still, the tour was OK. The tasting however was horrible. We were sitting in the boutique/store, while other people where walking around us (speaking loudly). The music was way too loud. The guide also served one pair of visitors at a time, which meant that the others had to wait 4-5 minutes to get the wine and ask questions. This was the most touristy experience I've had in a long time and I can´t stress this enough. Drink their wines, Don't visit the winery. There are far better producers that will give you both better wines and a better reception.

The history of Barolo Wines in one place.
Jun 2019 • Couples
One of the most iconic Barolo Winery’s in the world. Its located on the top of Barolo town inside a castle. You hace diferent choices. From having a tour arround the cellars to diferent kind of tastings.
The staff is more than welcoming and always looking for a way to make you happy. This is a great place to begin the importance of Barolo region and its wines.
Don’t forget to visit the rooftop terrace, they have a great view of Barolo town and its sorroundings.

We decided to visit this winery because Borgogno is an historical and famous wine brand.
Before visiting the winery we had opportunity to see the terrace that offering to see a great view of Barolo and the valley.
After winery tour we had a Barolo tasting whit a large wine selection.
Interesting the history of the wine “ no name” label

Another good winery, in the heart of town
Sep 2018 • Couples
Opening up to a small square in the middle of town, Borgogno winery welcomes you to its tasting room. While waiting, we were directed to the top floor terrace, that offers an amazing 360 degree view of the valley, with views of several of the other 10 Barolo-producing towns. A large table with chairs, and a tent that protects you from the elements offer a relaxing place to enjoy the views and the gentle breeze. The winery tour was very good. It always amazes us that, after decades of going on winery tours, we learn something new, something different in most of the. After the tour, the tasting. Borgogno produces a broad selection of wines, but its Barolos are clearly the jewels of the crown. Of particular note, a confrontation with the DOCG community led to the bottling of an excellent wine with a "no name" label. It competes favorably with the established Barolos.

Ridiculously uninterested staff

We had traveled a long way to buy wine here as a surprise for friends that were getting married. Opening time in the afternoon was 14.30, but the shop was stil closed. Someone told us that today it was 15.00 “don’t know why”. Returned at 15.10, shop was closed, but there was a tour with a guide. We tried to attrack his attention, but he ignored us. Finale we saw someone in the office with the door closed. We knocked on the window, until he finally came out. We asked if we could buy something in the shop, to which he replied: no, there’s a tour going on, so the shop remains closed. Didn’t ask what we wanted to buy nor offered to open the shop. Apparently they make enough money. Not from us though.

Wonderful rooftop terrace
Sep 2017 • Friends
We stopped just to taste wine. We got our wine downstairs and went up to the rooftop terrace to enjoy the wine and the view. The view is wonderful of the whole town and area. It is a covered terrace, so it was wonderful to sit in the shade. The wines were very good.

Great tour
Jul 2017 • Couples
We were staying in Alba and asked our B & B owner to recommended and winery tour. He booked us in for a tour at 11am. We arrived in Barolo and wondered through the beautiful village. We went in to the winery and joined the tour with 4 other couples. The tour guide spoke fantastic English, although he spoke very quickly so found some of it hard to understand. He took us all around the winery which we found very interesting and it was amazing to see the large vats full of wine and the thousands of bottles of wine. We then payed for the basic wine tasting where we tasted 2 of their wines. The tour guide guided us through the types of wine we were tasting. We ended up buying 2 bottles of red wine and 2 bottles of their dessert wine. We didn't taste the dessert wine as part of the wine tasting but our guide was more than happy to let us try some. We even managed to get 3 of the bottles home in one piece in our suitcase so we can enjoy Barolo at home.
