Very nice tasting

We had a really nice tasting at Massolino. You get to try almost everything they have in their wine portfolio and the people leading the tasting have a lot of knowledge. The views and the cellars are breathtaking. Child friendly visit as well. You have to reserve with time.

Better before

This is my favourite Barolo, and we probably will return over and over. We were lucky to be guided by Franco Massolino himself the first time, and it made a big difference to the other times we have visited, this one as well. Massolino is obviously doing fine, and they ate growing. But the sense of familiarity is gone.

Great high-end winery

Perfectly located in the main square of the picturesque town of Serralunga. Make sure to have a reservation and you will have a great wine tasting from one of the top wine producers in the region - you may also make a bargain. Very stylish and modern locale.

Nice Tour. Dissappointing Tasting.

We visited Massolino as a part of a private tour that we booked through a vendor. Our group of 4 was asked to join others that were booked at the same time frame for a total of 10 on the tour. The tour started nice with a well informed guide educating us about the family and vineyards. We proceeded to the cellar through the facility to the newer constructed area. The tour was great and we were looking forward to trying wines, specifically the Barolos. We were presented with 6 different wines, none of which were the Barolos offered nor were we allowed to try them. We are winerds. The wines were heavy oak to us compared to many other wines in the region. My husband and I commented that they tasted "very California". They wines we tried were very young and tasted like they needed more time to mature. The wine was priced high compared to many of the other vineyards we visited. Only one of 2 vineyards where we purchased nothing in 4 years of visiting Italy. Disappointing.

What an elegance

We enjoy very much the Massolino’s wines for long. Our teenagers see myself and wife enjoying those great wines and they travelled with to Italy and came with us for the winery visit. We booked ahead directly with Alessandro and started at 16:30. The winery gracious and remodeled building reveals itself as you enter its interior. Beautiful place and can’t tell from the outside. The visit explains from the terrain, vineyards, production and aging. Excellent tour with an excellent guide who speaks very good English. After the visit, the tasting! Very classy. Don’t miss.

Nice winery
Jul 2017 • Couples
Another great winery in the Barolo region serving a variety of great wines.

This 4th generation establishment has been recently expanded and updated with a beautiful modern tasting room and professional English speaking staff. Our visit started with a visit to the cellar to view the operation (a welcome respite from the soaring temperatures when we visited) followed by an extensive tasting back upstairs.

We were taken through a wide selection of thei wines beginning with Arneis followed by Barbera, dolcetto and then their multi-vineyar Barolo. We then were able to try a single vineyard Barolo and finished with a sweet moscato.

Note: essential to book ahead-they don't take walk ins.

We were with 4 others, 2 from Norway and 2 from Finland. The finish couple were on their 10th visit to stock up and were big fans of the vineyard. The tour was the typical walk through the cellar, look at big barrels, etc.

Wines were definitely worth trying.

Massolino has state of the art facilities in the beautiful Serralunga D'alba. Some great restaurants in the village if you're planning wine and food🙂 very educational talk and visit to winery plus great wines. Really recommended and don't understand bad service comments by some. I guess

Most 'educational' winery visit
Jun 2017 • Couples
Visited Massolino on advise of our hotel concierge, and were blown away - both at the level of 'wine education' offered (exclusive to 2 of us so we could ask any / all questions) as well as quality of wine. Set in the middle of Serralunga d'Alba town square and easy to find, pls make reservations for the tour though.
