Excellent and welcoming staff

We spent a lovely hour or so here when passing through. Lovely walk of the site and then some really great impromptu wine tasting with knowledgeable and welcoming staff. Would love to spend more time here next time and perhaps eat in one of the restaurants.
Great pit stop if passing though or for the afternoon.

Full of history and very interesting

I always visit small wineries, so I was a bit unsure about Fontanafredda. But the visit was full of history, which was described by the guide in vivid and interesting detail. The tasting of two Barolo wines afterwards was also great.

Visiting this winery is on my bucket list.

They have the absolute best Moscato d"Asti in the world (imo). I was fortunate enough to have a waiter at the walkie talkie building in London suggest this sweet wine. It was marvelous. If you like sweet wine (not too sweet) you should try their Fontanafredda Moncucco, Moscato d'Asti DOCG d"Asti. Unfortunately, it's not available in the U.S.

Take Your Time Here!

Great place! I understand why this was the European winery of the year! Beautiful entry with a large grape cluster greeting you! Then you walk into the village, where you enjoy a tasting, a tour, a couple of nice restaurants and a walk in the "woods of deep thoughts"! I spent three hours here - which is very unusual for a wine visit by me! Very nice wines and helpful staff!

Amazing selection
Oct 2019
We took a short wine tasting session just to get to know the wines they produce. They have a wide range of wines from reasonable prices to extremely high prices...
The wonderful thing was that you don’t need a mortgage to buy good wines here...
They also have a restaurant which we did not try.
The estate is beautiful and well worth spending some time discovering it

Winery with a royal history
Sep 2019 • Friends
Our winery tour guide told us the history of the place and it’s association with the Emperor and his mistress who became his second wife. We toured the old part of the building, the underground cellars, the long passage way for rolling the barrels from the cellars to bottling. It was interesting to know how wine was made back then.
We tasted 2 sparking wine and both were good. We did not taste any white or red wine.
This winery was on our wine tour.

Worst tasting I’ve ever had
Jul 2019 • Couples
Not only are the wines terrible, the people that work here are downright rude and condescending. My husband and I shared a few “glasses” of wine as a means of tasting( if you could call it that) mind you a “glass” of wine is equivalent to the stingy pours one might receive in a place like Napa. We asked the woman that guided us through the tasting for some restaurant recommendations and she was very rude when we told her we didn’t have the money to go to another Michelin star restaurant (because we had already visited one the night before), Her response (in a very condescending tone) was, “well do you want quality or quantity?” The wine here is garbage and the people that work here need a lesson in human decency. Do not go here unless you want to try mass produced s***t wine and an overall terrible experience.
