    Best beach in sri lanka
By far! This is the best beach I stayed on in sri lanka compares to Galle and bentota. The moment you step on to it, you are greeted my thin coconut trees that are bowing down to the Indian ocean. I chilled there all day and didn't want to leave. I have to say it's ranked in top 3 in the world for me. I would travel to sri lanka again just for this beach

Most photographed place in Sri Lanka
It's a hidden gem of Sri Lanka. A must visit place. Very few people know about this beauty. Much-photographed red-rock promontory with coconut palms, known for ocean views & sunset walks. Located at the end of Mirissa beach, this place is completely covered with palm trees. It is one of those attractions in Mirissa, which are great for taking pictures of all the tall beautiful palms overlooking the ocean. Totally loved it.

Whale and dolphin watching in Mirissa is one of the most exciting water activities you can do during your holiday in Sri Lanka. Often spotted blue whales are the biggest animals in the world and Mirissa is the best place for whale and dolphin watching tours in Sri Lanka. Whale watching season in Mirissa is from November to April.

    Serene and beautiful beach
Very neat and clean with blue water ! Thankfully it’s less commercialised compared to Unawatuna beach. Parrot rock and water sports adds to the attraction. There are many cafes and shacks where food can be enjoyed.

The perfect place to end a tour of Sri Lanka 👍🌴
The perfect place to end a tour of Sri Lanka. find your restaurant and sunbeds, order a mango lassi and enjoy the beach. You can buy clothes, jewelry, glasses from small sellers (like in Rio de Janeiro 👍). Use the time for a massage on the beach. In the evening, in small restaurants, you can enjoy the fish caught that day with music and cocktails. I wish you wonderful days in Sri Lanka.

    Lovely beach
Lovely beach with lots of bars and restaurants. It never felt too busy either ! Lots of dogs which we personally love. Something needs to be done about rubbish in sri lanka. No bins. No real waste management which is so so sad given the beauty and wildlife of this country.

Fine sand and warm water. Beautiful.
One of our favourite beaches in the whole of Asia. Beautiful, fine sand with warm clean water and good size waves. Lots of small bars and restaurants nearby. Our favourite is Oh la la (reviewed separately). Some people also surf nearby but I'm not a surfer so can't say if it's good for surfing or not.

This is a beautiful beach and yes, the waves are great BUT great if you know what you are doing. This is not a beginner beach for surfing. Weligama is only 10 minutes north and much more tame for beginners. I saw a man drown on Mirissa two weeks ago. When I read other reviews encouraging people to swim, I had to write a review myself. This man was a solo traveller from the UK (I was told by a local who had found his ID). When I google it, this accident still isn’t available. It was a tragic day. Thinking of him and his family and hoping others become aware of the danger of the waters around Sri Lanka.

Really great tropical beach. If you want to catch big waves this is the place, stunning. Plenty of cafes directly on the beach to enjoy the view.

Pros: Clean beach. Waves were really nice and the water is so refreshing on the beach.

Cons: Dingy accommodations. Extremely unhygienic. Do not trust listings on booking websites, 90% are over exaggerated pictures. Area looks very rural. Food and drinks are more expensive than the UK, and lacks quality and hygiene. Lacks basic comfort. Smelly streets. Tuk drivers trying to scam you every step of the way.

Super cons: Area filled with Russian backpackers and Russian 🪝er WoMeN trying to sleep with local beach boys selling green. Apart from the beach, area is over rated and does not live up to the hype.

Don’t trust everything you see on Instagram and TikTok people! You’re better off having a bath at home in your cozy little tub with a bar of soap.

Beach: 8/10
Food: 4/10
Hygiene: 2/10
Tuk Tuk Scams 10/10
Russians Who’d sleep with your Tuk Driver: 10/10

Very overrated. We did the whale watching trip and saw only dolphins. The ocean is suitable for surfing but not swimming. Very touristy, noisy and overpriced.

Sighting unseen whales is a rewarding but adventurous journey. Everything is good but we see the downside. Dolphins came around and changed our mindset. The intense sunshine was missed by the wind.
