About Footfalls Walking Holidays
Footfalls Walking Holidays was founded in 1994 by Christopher and Teresa Stacey. We wanted to share our love and interest in the great outdoors with others so we started guiding individuals and groups in the Wicklow Mountains. Before long we were getting requests from our customers to see more of Ireland than just Wicklow and also do self-guided tours. Today we have expanded to where we are offering guided and self-guided tours to almost every corner of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Lake District. Despite out growth almost all of our tours are guided by us, Christopher and Teresa, to guarantee that personal touch.

Hello,we were using a Nissan 16 seater , 14 hikers , Teresa and Christopher our guides. 7 Female 7 Male hikers. Born deep into 20th Century. Plan was to attempt Scafell Pike 3206 feet , Skiddaw little man and Skiddaw in the Lake District. Based in Keswick at a Bed and breakfast. Left County Wicklow 5:45 am to catch ferry from Belfast to Stranraer Scotland. Stena Line Superfast. 150 minute crossing. 12 hours Wicklow to Keswick. Teresa and Christopher share driving duty. Stayed at Pitcairn House under the care of Heather and Steve. Excellent. The advantage of dealing with professionals is that the bar is raised for all interactions with interdependant businesses. Pitcairn House was a lovely base for our stay. Scafell pike was a calling to acount of our ability. Weather dry, no wind, cold. Christopher was an ideal guide , full of information, discretely appraising our ability and changing the route, pushing us to the edge of our comfort zone, always safety first. However the litmus test passed was as we left Scafell pike at 19:15. The B5289 , 10 minute drive to Keswick was closed for resurfacing. Our guide Christopher , who had just escorted us up Scafell was forced to take us in a 16 seater bus through Honister Pass, past Buttermere lake , through Buttermere Fell , Buttermere hamlet then through dearwent fell to Keswick. 25% gradient drop on the very narrow roads. For us it was a chance to rest, enjoy the beautiful setting sun over lake Buttermere ,Red pike and High Stile to our left. The driving was of an exceptional advanced driver standard for which I was grateful. Gear selection 1 or 2. Whilst driving arrangements were made to hold tables at The Royal Oak for our evening meal. Total consideration of our group's requirements. We made Keswick for 20: 45. Last sitting 20:55. We ate well. Next day we hiked to Skiddaw Little Man and the Skiddaw.. Weather dry, no wind, cool, then sun came out, beautiful day. Disconcerting to be top of a hill in the Peak district in April and the ground cracked as it is so dry from lack of rain. Next day , drove back to Wicklow. Left at 0900, arrived 2215. As I write this , with my children glad to have me back , I am reminded how fortunate we arethat fate led our walking group to Teresa and Christopher. Scouting has a saying "first to Accident and emergency loses". We all had a super time. There are many ways to go hiking , if you want to come back safely with good memories, may I suggest Footfalls.

Christopher and Teresa organised a great St Patrick's Weekend of walking in the Brecon Beacons that was most enjoyable. The sun shone on two days of superb walking. I have nothing but praise and admiration for the professionalism of Footfalls Walking Holidays. So much so I've already booked my next trip with them.

I went with some walking friends and a group of strangers on a tour to the Brecon Beacons personally guided and accompanied by Christopher and Teresa. There were 13 people on the 4 day trip and I can honestly say It was one of the best walking experiences of my life. The weather was fantastic for March, the accommodation was central and we were the only occupants, the group in its entirety gelled from early on and the choice of walks was superb. Christopher and Teresa were so good and patient with us all and couldn’t do enough for us. To anyone looking for a walking holiday look no further than Footfalls.

Recently completed the 12 day Pembrokeshire Coastal Path self-guided walk through Footfalls. Was very happy with the level of service provided by this company, which allied to the trail itself made for a most enjoyable hiking experience. Apart from providing detailed notes/maps and booking the accommodations, Christopher and Teresa kept in regular and personalised contact with me throughout the booking process and the walk itself. Would definitely walk with Footfalls again.

Christopher and Teresa are a great team and my friend and I had a lovely two day walking break, with three nights of dinner, bed and breakfast in the excellently located Glendalough Hotel. From the initial planning chat, Chris had a warm, flexible approach to our requests and abilities. He knows the Wicklow hills inside out and brought us to some hidden beauty spots as we happily trekked along. He even added in a second sortie on day one for me to locate the Gossun Stones as it was eqinox
