About Footfalls Walking Holidays
Footfalls Walking Holidays was founded in 1994 by Christopher and Teresa Stacey. We wanted to share our love and interest in the great outdoors with others so we started guiding individuals and groups in the Wicklow Mountains. Before long we were getting requests from our customers to see more of Ireland than just Wicklow and also do self-guided tours. Today we have expanded to where we are offering guided and self-guided tours to almost every corner of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Lake District. Despite out growth almost all of our tours are guided by us, Christopher and Teresa, to guarantee that personal touch.

We are from Melbourne Australia and had booked and paid the deposit for an 8 day trip Cork and Kerry group trip due to depart on Aug 15th 2020. We were very excited about this trip. But then Covid 19 hit and since March our Government have put in a travel ban meaning we are NOT allowed us to travel overseas. in fact Melbourne, where we live, is currently the Covid-19 hotspot of Australia so we are not allowed to even leave our suburb now without a good legal reason. Melbourne Airport is closed to International flights. We had to cancel everything in our well planned and mostly paid for 2 month trip to Europe! A few emails back and forth to Chris, and he refunded our deposit. Thank you SO much Chris - it gives us confidance that we are dealing with a good business with integrity and a customer friendly culture. IE. It CONFIRMS what we had thought and why we booked with you. We look forward to hopefully re-booking this trip in 2021 and meeting you then if things get back to normal. Friendly, helpful and fair!

Hopefully we will get to meet you both in the summer of 2021 and if not 2022. Until that day, please keep very well and stay safe. Kind regards, Christopher, Teresa and all the Footfalls Team

Organized at relatively short notice by Christopher and Teresa of Footfalls and with the added challenges brought about by Covid-19, we thoroughly enjoyed our weeks self-guided walking on the Connemara Way. Rambling along quiet country roads, forest tracks and trails and across open moorlands gives time and space to enjoy the magnificent and ever changing colors, shadows and scenery of Connemara... a true feast for the senses. Even though the Way is well sign-posted, Christopher had provided us with very comprehensive route notes. He even checked our safety one day when there was torrential rain all day with many local areas flooded. This emphasized for me that Footfalls are there with you along the way albeit in the background. The B&Bs chosen were excellent and taxi pick-ups were very efficient. Overall a very well organized and enjoyable week. Thank you Christopher and Teresa.

It would be hard to recommend Footfalls Walking Holidays more highly. A peerless performance, especially during Covid times which has been so hard on everyone involved in Irish tourism. The attention, but most of all the care offered by Christopher, was matchless.

Dear Mark, Thank you very, very much for your glowing review, we really appreciate you taking the time to write it. We are delighted that you enjoyed your walking tour along the Wicklow Way and it was a pleasure to have been able to meet and chat with you. I apologies that the sun Gods did not shine for you every day but as you know that is what goes to make our beautiful little country so green and lush. Thank you once again and we look forward to the day when we welcome you back to do another one of our self-guided tours. Kind regards, Christopher, Teresa and all the Footfalls Team

Our guide, Christopher was fabulous. Knowledgeable and accommodating , full of stories , good fun. Paced the hike to our level. When the hike was over he and his wife brought us to Avondale to see the house of Charles Stewart Parnell and surrounding gardens. They were both so warm and friendly and gave us advice on where to swim, have dinner etc. ( We ate in Byrne and Woods in Roundwood that evening...lovely place , friendly staff , good food) They also gave us lots of information about the local area. This was a unique and memorable experience for my husband and myself . Footfalls made our stay in Laragh special. I highly recommend them.

Dear Eleanor and Terence, Thank you so much for your lovely review of your day with us here in Wicklow walking the Avonmore Way. I had a wonderful day with you and enjoyed the chat and the laughter. It was a pleasure for Teresa and myself to take you to Avondale in the afternoon, just wish that times were better and that the house was open for you to explore, so you are just going to have to come back. Until we meet again, stay safe and keep very well. Kind regards, Christopher, Teresa and all the Footfalls Team

Christopher created an individualised self guided tour for me on the Beara peninsula. I had never done a walking tour by myself before and was a little apprehensive. Due to COVID I was no longer able to go on my planned holiday abroad and this was like having my own mini" camino" getaway in West Cork. Christopher was very detail oriented, had a great sense of humour and arranged really lovely local accommodation with great local personalities. The owner of the B and B even rang me to check in when I was a little late home one evening. Christopher was very knowledgeable of the area and helped me "discover" some lesser known treasures off the beaten path. West Cork scenery was very impressive and walking through its beauty was good for the soul! I will certainly do another holiday with Footfalls and would highly recommend them
