About
Footfalls Walking Holidays was founded in 1994 by Christopher and Teresa Stacey. We wanted to share our love and interest in the great outdoors with others so we started guiding individuals and groups in the Wicklow Mountains. Before long we were getting requests from our customers to see more of Ireland than just Wicklow and also do self-guided tours. Today we have expanded to where we are offering guided and self-guided tours to almost every corner of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Lake District. Despite out growth almost all of our tours are guided by us, Christopher and Teresa, to guarantee that personal touch.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Christopher was a wonderful guide, showing us the best of the area. His sense of humour and relaxed manner made the great hiking and beautiful views even better! Our group was so compatible, everything was well organized with just the right amount of time for all that was planned. We look forward to planning another trip with Footfalls!

I couldn't have imagined a tour run any better than our 8-day/7-night tour of Cork and Kerry. Christopher - owner (along with wife Teresa) and tour guide - is a wonderful Irish ambassador, nature lover, and absolute pro at guiding people through the luscious coastal landscape. From accommodations to hikes to meals, his attention to detail allowed our international cast of 13 characters to enjoy every moment without a care in the world. He knows all the hidden gems. We're looking forward to another trip with him!

The walking trip was really well organised and the scenery was amazing. Chris, our guide kept us entertained with his banter and he was a really thoughtful, lovely soul. I cannot praise Footfalls highly enough. The group members were really friendly people and such good company. Lots of laughter. I will definitely book another trip with Footfalls next year

This is our 4th trip with Footfalls and once again they hit it out of the park. This time our ramblings took us to the Wild Atlantic Way through Mayo and Sligo. Booking was, as always, simple and efficient, accommodations were clean and comfy with all the amenities one could possibly need and meals offered lots of choices resulting in delicious dishes. Our fellow walkers were a diverse group of people that quickly created a harmonious unit and it was a pleasure spending the week with them.
Walking with Christopher is always a very special time and we had the opportunity on this trip to spend some time with his son Phillip. While both of these men are extremely knowledgable of the geography and history of the trails we follow them on and are happy to share this knowledge, the emphasis of the day’s journey is to experience the Irish countryside up close and personal. They’re quick to tweak a day’s itinerary for anyone who may choose to shorten their day and will cheer you on though the tricky bits of the trail. As with all of our trips with Christopher, this one delivered gorgeous scenery and an easy pace as stated on the website’s itinerary.
We have driven and cycled through Ireland many time over the years but Footfalls delivers, and every time, the best way to see this beautiful Island. And they make it so easy!

We are just back from hiking for a week in Donegal, and the trip would not have happened--or at least would not have happened so successfully--without the wonderful folks at Footfalls. A family-run operation, Footfalls knows Ireland, knows hiking, and knows how to get things done. They are incredibly kind, and incredibly helpful. They don't just plan the trip (though they do that, and send maps and detailed trail notes), but they make all of the arrangements: the nightly accommodations, the luggage transfer, etc. When something goes wrong, as it often does with me, they are available pretty much 24/7 to help out. In our case, we found ourselves in a town where the restaurants weren't yet open for the season. We also were without luggage for three days when the airlines misplaced it. And then one of us got sick and we had to change our schedule. Footfalls handled all of this swiftly, with compassion and with answers. I dont' know what we would have done without them. Footfalls is based in Wicklow, but they know all of Ireland intimately and hike these trails themselves every season. They've arranged our trips in Wicklow, Beara, and Dingle in the past and each time everything has gone smoothly. I highly recommend them.
(And they are less expensive than the big names, like REI Tours.)

Footfalls was a pleasure to deal with. They were efficient, well organised and responsive and sympathetic to changing needs. The accommodations chosen on this point-to point long distance walk were high quality. There was good communication prior and all materials (maps, guidebooks, instructions) awaited us at our first accommodation. Baggage and pre-arranged taxi transfers worked well. Would definitely use Footfalls again.
Spectacular scenery throughout this walk. There were some longish sections of road walking some days but it meant we could make up the distance. We had moderately reasonable weather the first week in May, but go well prepared with wet weather gear. Gaiters are a MUST as the ground is boggy, even on dry days.

8 of us did the self guided Wicklow Way with Footfalls. From the start, Chris answered all queries very promptly. Accommodation was excellent.
Comprehensive instructions and guides were supplied (even a pen with a torch !)
All transfers either taxi or accommodation hosts was spot on.
Cannot fault the company.
The walk is very remote, so a few nights were a bit rushed from getting in at between 5 and 6 and then the accommodation or a taxi ran us to a pub to eat and then picked us up a couple of hours later,
I think this is a small price to pay for such a beautiful and remote walk.
Would absolutely use Footfalls again.

"I was a member of Footfalls hike to Ben Nevis. there's only one person who could have gotten us up to that summit and down safely in those conditions without any shadow of doubt. I never witnessed such leadership allied to navigation skills to lead a group ranging from 55-75 fit yrs safely. at no stage, and there were many, did we waver in his judgement about either our cability or challenging weather conditions near summit, walking on 6-8 ft snow at points and VP. Christy Stacy has my undying respect for many of his entrepreneurial and walking skills plus partner Teresa for hidden understated but no less valuable support. highly recommended walking company in my opinion."

It was a pleasure to have had the chance to organise and guide your group of friends to Ben Nevis in Scotland.
Both Teresa and I enjoyed being in your company very much.
Until we have the pleasure to walk together again, stay safe and keep well.

We did the Sunrise new years day walking tour with Footfalls. We really enjoyed the experience. The father and daughter of this family run business were our tour guides. They were very knowledgeable about the area and very friendly. After the hike they recommended other local hikes in the area for us to do as we were staying in the area a few days. I would definately recommend Footfalls hiking tours and ill definately be booking again. Thank you Christopher and Sarah for a very enjoyable trip!

How strenuous are the hikes on the Dingle Way self-guided tour? I'd consider myself a semi-experienced hiker--no multi-day trekking or mountaineering, but I've done day hikes 12 miles long in mountainous terrain. However, I've never done this type of hiking on three or more consecutive days.
What's the weather like around the end of May? I'm seeing averages in the 50s/60s with rain. Does this sound accurate?

Hi, you would need to have a moderate level of fitness for this trail. By that I mean you would have to be comfortable at least 4 to 5 hours per day. We could shorted down the days for you if you wish, if so please send us an email and we will do up an itinerary for you.
Normally good with temperatures around 55 to 60c

We want to take a walking trip in Ireland this September. We'd like to rent a cottage for a week or so -a home base with lots of walks in the vicinity, a charming village nearby and rural beauty all around. If one could get there on public transportation that would be ideal. Any ideas? Thanks so much, Sue
