Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A pretty view with a fascinating history. Stopped here as part of a cruise excursion. Didn't have time to explore much so I cannot comment on the trails. Of course, it was very windy and quite chilly on the day we visited in September.

We had stopped at Cahir, on our way down to Youghal. After a fascinating tour of the castle and a lovely cup of tea at the most charming cafe, we were convinced to drive the Vee Pass.
We were a little hesitant, as we were first time Ireland-drivers, and the road seemed windy and very small.
And it was.
But oh my goodness.
So worth it!
I was the navigator, mind you, but my sister handled the roads with ease. The views were amazing, with plenty of places to pull over and take it all in.
The fog was dramatic and intense though luckily not thick enough to be a hinderance.
Ireland is incredibly gorgeous, indeed!

This beautiful drive doesn’t get enough recognition. It is stunning. A must do.

I normally start from Newcastle Village onto Mount Melleray and from there go to Cappoquin then on to the VEE finishing it Clogheen. Breathtaking views

From Cahir there are signs for The Vee. Google Maps recognises ‘The Vee’ so it is best to put this into your Sat Nav as the signs disappear after a while! The Vee refers to a hairpin bend up the side of the hill. There is an area to park on the side of the road and some wooden benches. The route up is easy on a well maintained road. A mass of rhododendron bushes fill the verges. The views of the countryside below and the hills in the distance are spectacular. If you’re in the area take time to visit The Vee and capture the view.

I drove from Lismore to Cahir and hence passed through The Vee with its nagnificent views. It is an incredible place, I always thought it was named after the V shape of the pass through the Knockmealdown Mountains that separate Waterford and Tipperary, but no it refers to the incredible V shape of the hairpin bend that takes you through the gap. Has to be seen/driven to be believed!
There are some lovely lay-bys for you to pull in and enjoy the views as well as mountain trailheads. Incredible stillness and serenity. Loved it.

We prefer getting off the well-travelled motorways and 'were delighted with our choice of driving the R668 through the mountains, on our way to view the Lismore Castle Gardens and The Towers . We were rewarded with lovely views over the farmlands below, stray sheep wandering the roads, hairpin turn (sadly only one) and many abandoned farms along the way. We only saw a handful of vehicles along the this route and don't worry - there are loads of places to pull off and enjoy the setting!

Well worth the drive, views and lake are very scenic. We had young children with us so did not hike or walk on this occasion.

Visit The Vee in the Knockmealdown Mountains in County Waterford during the early summer when rhodadendrons are in bloom, and it is an incredible sight and experience!
