About
Dunmore Gardens is a magical walled garden, which lies just outside the pretty village of Carrigans on the western banks of Lough Foyle in Co. Donegal. The McFarland family have lived at Dunmore for generations and have opened their doors to many weddings, celebrations and garden parties. We are always open to new visitors looking for an occasion or simply to relax in the sanctuary of our garden.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have just returned to Dublin having spent a fantastic few days holidays in Donegal at Dunmore Gardens. Ann and Amelia who run the place are amazing and could not have been more welcoming. They gave us great advice on where to go each day and where to dine each night. The House itself is a hidden gem, beautifully and tastefully maintained. Our bed-room was large and most comfortable. The breakfast was amazing. I would highly recommend Dunmore Gardens to anyone who wants a quiet and relaxing time in Donegal. Thank you Ann and Amelia for making our stay with you so special. We will be back. Suzanne and Thomas Sjoasen

Loved our three day stay here in August. magnificent bedroom , enough of its own, but also ground sitting room.
A retreat, cosy , comfy, grand.

No tv , no wifi so it is a real escape.
No breakfast included but on asking for kettle, we were presented with fresh bread, butter, delicious home made from the garden jam, tea, coffee.
Cannot fault the hosting .
Beautiful Garden, cannot emphasise how much of a retreat this was.
nothing in local village, but busy Derry nearby.

Warm welcome awaits you here in this old world charming Manor home..lovely bedroom room with own sitting room downstairs..bed really comfy...definitely a romantic get away from it all...but it's the beautiful walled gardens that gives it the special effect....

Myself and my boyfriend decided to treat ourselves and booked a lodge at dunmore gardens. We arrived to two lovely ladies, Amelia and Anne, who took us to our accommodation and gave us a brief tour of the grounds. Our lodge was cosy and warm, the bed was very comfortable and we both slept very well with the country air coming in the window. We woke up and got a delicious homemade breakfast at a time of our choice. Anne and Amelia were extremely flexible, welcoming and made our stay evermore enjoyable. They gave us suggestions of things to do in the area and allowed us to play with their two beautiful dogs!

Overall I would rate my night spent at dunmore gardens a 10/10 as it did exactly as described with the added touch of a family home!

My partner and I enjoyed a wonderful night away at this delightful country house.

We found the staff welcoming and helpful. They were there for everything we needed, but only whenever we needed them.

The surrounds are rustic and traditional; the rooms were spacious, comfortable and pretty.

The breakfast was generous and tasty, high-quality, local and mostly organic produce.

The gardens were the jewel in the crown - more botanical really than walled garden. Very impressive.

Would highly recommend.

Dunmore Gardens is an amazing place where nature abounds and peace and tranquility is the order of the day. Irish hares are there in abundance and red squirrels are also plentiful and can be seen hanging by their tails to rob the bird feeders handing from the trees.

Our bedroom was out of this world and captured the mood of this splendid manor house which dates back to 1725.

There is freedom to potter around the house and the gardens which equal or surpass any National Trust property.

Breakfast is out of this world - so healthy and still an Irish Breakfast. There was a plentiful supply of homemade bread, homemade jam made from fruits collected from the gardens. Fresh fruit is readily available and tea is served in silver teapots which imagine are part of the heritage ofl this amazing place.

Amelia is a brilliant hostess, not intrusive but will answer all your questions which confirms that Dunmore Gardens was indeed a very good choice to book in bed and breakfast.

A walk in the gardens is an absolute must and by the way we had breakfast at 11.00 am! We didn't leave until 1.00 pm and wished we had been staying another night.

We could never afford to live in a 'big house' but having the opportunity to have such an experience even for one night was a memory we treasure and will repeat again very shortly.

Visited Dunmore Gardens on Easter Sunday with 19 Vintage cars from our car club based in Kells Co. Meath. All 19 cars fitted comfortably at the front of the house. A wonderful welcome awaited us from Amelia and her grandmother. No shortage of tea and scones. A beautiful place to visit. Very tranquil and peaceful, an opportunity to step out of busy lives for a few hours and relax. The garden and its surroundings simply sublime.
