A nice stroll shaded historical stroll
Jul 2020
A very nice 2 hours easy and shaded stroll through aninteresting archeological site (Bronze Age and Early Medieval). Far away from the madding crowds to discover another aspect of Corsica.

A very interesting insight into the Bronze Age
Sep 2018 • Couples
We were staying close by and only stumbled upon this by accident and what a great find. It is very reasonably priced, we were given an English guide book and we were on our way. It is a beautiful walk in a forest with two 800 year old pine trees and massive mossy rocks. You do need to clamber over small rocks and it is an uneven path so be prepared with your walking shoes. The history of the area is amazing, we stood in awe to think people had been here so many centuries before us. In the local village there is an archeological museum with artifacts from the site but we did not have time to visit. We highly recommend you visit and enjoy the walk if nothing else.

Wonderful walk through history
Aug 2018 • Family
A wonderful walk in a thick forest. It's amazing how few people actually know about this place. It is not expensive at all and very informative. There are a lot of spelling mistakes in the Dutch booklet, but still well readable. The audio guide in English is fun as well and I can very much recommend it if you can stand a French accent. Just bring walking shoes and water for the walk might take up a good two hours especially if you have small children with you.

There are things I will never understand about archeological sites: some are world-famous and you hear about them everywhere (Lascaux, Stonehenge, Filitosa, Altamira...) and others which are sometimes at least as interesting are almost unknown (Newgrange, the Tarxien temples...). This is the case of Cucuruzzu. I am interested in megaliths and I confess I had never heard about it. I was really happy to discover it. The place is rich in remains and the surrounding are simply gorgeous. I like how they have organised it with the platforms, the numberings and the leaflet (it is worth noting that it is the only place in the whole Corsica where we have been provided with information in Dutch).
It is really worth the visit (walking shoes required).

Cucuruzzo Archeological Site

Take a stroll through bronze age history along this engaging walk through an archeological site. Buy your tickets at the kiosk and you will be reminded that a gentle hike through this ancient woodland takes the best part of two hours. You will be handed a guidebook in your own language and off you go.
The guidebook is adequate and the paths clear. Even the most disinterested are captivated by the ancient environment and you can easily imagine your early ancestors scratching their existence here.
The two hours pass quickly and tomorrow you will be keen to visit the museum in Levie just to see the artifacts recovered and learn some more.
You absolutely do not need to be a history geek to enjoy this.

Interesting look into the past

Easy self guided walk through the forest. I tried not to understand too much just thought of prehistoric humans walking this same path. That's powerful in itself. Great views of Aiguilles de Bavella at some point.

Strange but beautiful

This historic site is full of stone constructions which you can clamber on. The grass is green and lush but I was bitten to pieces by something there!

Impressive archaeological site
Jul 2016 • Couples
I was really impressed by this very interesting historic site. The site is huge and provides an easy stroll through a beautiful forest. At the entrance you'll receive a very extensive guide with all of the information about the archaeological treasures that you'll encounter along the way. I especially enjoyed the pre-historic casteddu of Cucuruzzu and the menhirs.

I advice taking your time to experience everything. We needed up till three hours to see everything. Just take a picnic with you and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
