My friend and I passed through Caowu square occasionally after dinner in a working day. Some singers were there with guitar singing local melodies. Street artist was performing behavioral art. People are relaxed and indulged in the harmony with nature.

After dodging scooters and navigating busy storefronts--which in Taichung only sometimes even have a sidewalk--this pedestrian friendly area came as a lovely relief. One can enjoy a 45-minute stroll among newer Taichung urban area, and visit the museums on either end. Plus public art along...More

We happened upon the square during a big festival hosted by the Rotary club. So the square was filled with booths and vendors, as well as a large performance stage.

Caowu is not only a Segway and "wiggly butt" (manual) scooter rental place, but it often has sales and events and weekend activities. Truly a hub of Taichung on weekends and close to many other activities, including bungee trampolines, during some festivals. Worth the trip...More

I find this long stretch fascinating. It's a park spanning between the city's two major museum's and then beyond. Along the path is a wide variety of shops and restaurants. It's just perfect for walks and jogs. Under different circumstances I would have walked there...More
