We came up to Potrero for an afternoon of sailing. Quiet beach. The sand is dark due to high iron content. Worth a visit if you like to sail.

A wonderful long sandy beach where yo can swim with pelicans. A joy to be there and the hotel Bahia de Sol was the perfect place to spend a week of paradise

If you are looking for white sand, this is not the beach for you, but if you like calm water, it's great. Also, at low tide, the beach is pretty big, and is a shallow grade. At high tide, steep drop.

It's a dark sand beach without amenities and the ocean isn't fun. Better to go to Tamarindo, Conchal or Flamingo Beach.

Potrero beach is about 3 miles long and has some beautiful scenery. Some folks prefer the lighter-colored sand beaches of neighboring Flamingo or Penca but Potrero is never crowded and has mellow surf breaks for great swimming. No hawkers on the beach but that will...More

Nice quiet beach, not commercial or busy like Tamarindo or Coco. Tiny town has basic amenities and a few good restaurants.

This is a dark sand beach area but very close to amenities, like food, dive shops, and board rentals if you want to paddle, surf, or sail. Fresh water showers outdoors to rinse off your body or feet, and bathrooms nearby.

Quiet, but with several options for drinks, snacks and meals. Dark sand seems to deter people, but the benefit of this means you'll largely have this beach to yourself. Diving platform located a short swim from the shore line providing fun for older children. Outstanding...More

A great beach in which you can enjoy the natural scenery of the Potrero bay area: the boats, the hills and the vegetation. There a lot of restaurants and small shops nearby.

Very few people, you can walk from one end to the other and possibly see less than 10 people. Unique sunset with the sun illuminating the islands on the horizon. Very clean!!
