About
This is a third generation, small scale, sustainable farm. The animals are pasture-fed and roam freely throughout the day. It is our vision to continue to operate this farm without the use of pesticides or chemical based fertilizers and to maintain a balance of pasturelands and forest. Guests are invited to take a tour of the farm. Come and see the cows up close and try your hand at milking. Take a tour of the garden, where you will find banana trees, the beginnings of a small scale coffee farm, and seasonal fruits and veggies under the care of our family. We also have sheep, goats, pigs, and poultry on the premesis that are all a part of the farm operation. MonteVerde is an area with a rich history in dairy production. We invite to try fresh Costa Rican cheese. You can enjoy an authentic meal featuring the freshly made cheese, hand made tortillas, along with other locally sourced and seasonably available items. A highlight of our Monteverde visit
Jun 2019 • Family
We booked this on a whim and couldn't have been happier. Our kids enjoyed it, but the parents even more. The farm tour was informative. The kids fed a bottle to a calf, milked a cow and then enjoyed warm, fresh cocoa. Fresh homemade cheese and tortillas -- amazing. I wish we could go back.

Lovely experience with a Costa Rican farm family
Mar 2019 • Family
My husband and I visited with my 6 year old. We got there unannounced but Orlando Jr was still able accommodate us and give us a tour. He told us about his family and their farming. We got a tour of animals and even got to milk a cow. This was one of the most authentic experiences we have ever had. Orlando and his mom treated us like family. We enjoyed raw milk, then made cheese and tortillas with them. My daughter wants to go back ever since we left. Please do yourself a favor and go with your kids here. Absolutely wonderful!

Fantastic visit of Finca el Paraiso
Mar 2019 • Family
Our tour of Finca el Paraiso with Orlando was fantastic - mum, dad and our two kids loved every minute. We toured the farm, learned about the crops, and how the farm became organic, having transitioned from a traditional dairy farm a few years ago. We met Jefe the pig, Zorro the dog, the cat and her kittens, and all the other animals. We learned what they ate and got to feed the calf, kid and lamb their milk which our kids were fascinated by. We also milked the cow and tasted her milk -au natural and with chocolate! Yolanda, Orlando’s lovely mother, taught us how to make tortillas and queso which we then enjoyed with some coffee and caño. Orlando was very passionate, knowledgeable and super friendly. We felt very welcome on the farm. All in all it was a wonderful experience. Five stars!!

Amazing tour. Very authentic and great for family.
Feb 2019 • Family
Our family of four (kids 5,7) had an amazing experience with Orlando and his family at the farm tour near Monteverde. This is a perfect activity for your family, Orlando was very good with kids and spoke great English. If your looking for an authentic experience vs a tourist trap, this is the one! Of all the tours we have had in Costa Rica this one was our families favorite. From feeding animals and helping with chores to making cheese and homemade tortillas with his mother. We booked on airbnb experiences but you can also book on his website. If we had more time we would have looked into staying on the farm, they had an airbnb available.

Beautiful farm and people
Jul 2018 • Family
This is a great way to truly see a small working dairy farm in Costa Rica. This farm is beautifully maintained through all natural practices. At the conclusion of the tour, we assisted in making cheese and patted out our own tortillas. We then sat down for a snack of our freshly made cheese on the tortillas. It was delicious and a wonderful experience. This is a fantastic way to spend a few hours.

AMAZING
Jul 2018 • Friends
Wow what a great experience. I loved coming here with my friends to learn about sustainable farming. Coming from a region of the world where farming mostly involves CAFO’s this was such a fresh perspective. Getting to milk a cow, feed pigs, play with chickens, and look at where they keep their livestock was spectacular. A great break from the ordinary, I loved my trip here. I’ll talk about the memories I made here for years to come!

STAY, EAT, TOUR and VOLUNTEER here! Amazing place!
Jun 2018 • Couples
This place is something your hotel will not recommend you as it is not a commercial place. This is a place where people live, love, work and enjoy!
Located in the absolutely beautiful valley! Place for those who look for peace, simplicity and internal enjoyment.
The Paradise Farm provide with housing, offers farm tours and also they serve amazing breakfast, lunch and dinner! Try all!!
If you get just a tour, don't forget to order breakfast/lunch/dinner!
Also I can't really call it "a tour" as it is a friendly talk and share of experiences and knowledge.
If you fall in love with the farm (which I guarantee you will) and feel like staying longer, don't hesitate - VOLUNTEER! They offer long and short term volunteering which will be a great help for all the family!
I've chosen this place for my birthday celebration - and I was right, it was a great time!

I cant imagine a better place up in the mountains. Incredible host, cozy house, one of the best sunset views of my life
Mar 2018
Our 2 nights at the Paradise Farm was my favorite part of my vacation. After spending 5 nights down at the beaches, it felt so good to get into the mountains. The house was comfortable and had everything we need. It was a quick drive to Monteverde Natl Park. I suggest getting to the park a few minutes before it opens to be 1st on the trails. The dinner we had at the Paradise farm was my favorite meal of the trip. Most of the ingredients came from the farm. We even watched the cheese making process before eating it. The sunsets were on par with the most beautiful sunsets Ive ever seen in my life, and its a perfect view from where you eat. You can be independent or hang out with the family here and either way its a lovely stay. I highly recommend hanging out with these locals and getting to know their way of life.

You know when its lightly raining, like a mist, but the sun is still shining brightly. Its one of those weather moments that just feel incredible. We had that weather both nights. Ad that feeling sort of sums up my stay here.

Delicious farm to table food, Amazing views, and Interesting Tour!
Apr 2018 • Couples
My parents, husband and I visited Paradise farm, participated in the farm tour and stayed at the on-site Airbnb home. When we arrived, we were immediately in awe of the views from the mountains of Monteverde all the way down to the Gulf of Nicoya. With green pasture land, this farm perched on the top of the mountain was idyllic! Orlando gave us an informative tour of his farm with animals, fresh vegetables, coffee plants, and dairy cows. We tried our hand at milking after a lesson from Orlando Sr. After our tour, Orlando's mother, Yolanda taught us to make the most delicious fresh cheese. After tasting the cheese, we immediately decided to have dinner and breakfast with the family. Yolanda cooked with farm-fresh ingredients and made the most delicious food we had in Costa Rica. She even gave my dad a bonus lesson in Costa Rican cooking and tortilla making- allowing him to make all the tortillas for dinner.

I loved the vision of Paradise farm to be organic and sustainable long-term. My favorite part of this whole experience was spending time with Orlando and his family. I loved how everyone worked together to make this farm life work. I would certainly recommend this tour and a visit to this farm to anyone thinking about traveling to Costa Rica!

A new tour with great promise
Feb 2018 • Family
This small family dairy farm is special. This family of four, surrounded by over 100 aunts, uncles, and cousins, is transforming their small dairy farm into a self sustaining, ecologically sound farm. They were criticised until a rare hurricane caused massive land slides and the only farm unaffected was the Paradise farm.

We were given a tour by the son, who seems to be the catalyst for change. The tour is new and is more of an invitation into the everyday lives of a small family of farmers who are trying to be good stewards of their land. I am a conservationist, not an environmentalist, and I appreciate the spirit of returning the land to a Selene if it's former state could with an entrepreneurial spirit. It just so happens that this results in self sustaining, organic farming with a firm, long term economic benefit for the family.

After learning about the farm and their long term goals, the family matriarch served us home made cheese, tortillas, and cafe con leche (coffee with milk).

While the tour is not polished and presented by full time guess, I left v Paradise farm impressed by this family and their dreams for a better future for all.
