It took us about 50 minutes to get to the lake (including a few stops to take pictures). We saw a snake crossing the trail!!! It's possible to sweam in the lake, specifically in the NorthWest beach. On our way back, we took the other trail down from the west side. It's not easy and there's not much human traffic there, so we were ringing our bell to alarm the bears. One of our labs favourite places to run around. Not bad for us either. Very beautiful spot during warm times. Not sure how it will be during colder periods.

Access to the trail is hidden, but well worth it. A nice 2 hour hike up and down, nice little lake. Some people swim in the summertime in it. You meet lots of friendly people on the trail. I wish there were more picknic benches.

As a West Van resident who knows the trails it is easy to get to the lake. However I have also guided walks through these trails and know that if you don't know the trail it is very easy to miss two critical junctions on this trail route. The first junction is the trailhead off the gravel road that you start the walk on. Fortunately if you miss the first junction, the road deadends a short distance later so you don't get far offtrack and can carefully backtrack to find the junction. The second junction is not so easy. It is easier to miss and if you do you will likely walk a long distance before you realize you are off track. IF you find your way to the lake, it is a lovely sight especially in the summer and well worth the walk. Big trees starting at the halfway point give this place a special feel. It is a mixed forest with old growth trees scattered through it. Watch carefully for signposts or go with someone who knows the trail.…

A very nice mid range hike suitable for all hiking abilities, and dogs as well! A little up, a little down, and a very nice lake with recently renovated dock at the "end" (actually, you can hike around the lake and beyond but most people stop at the lake for a swim, snack and to socialize). any people bring their dogs, which seem to love it as ours did.…
