Carew Castle is a glorious place to explore, full of twists, turns, old stone chambers, and spiral stairways. Much remains of the castle fabric, enough to understand the grandeur of its early days. Viewed from outside the castle looks surprisingly complete with the four curtain...More

As a local I have visited this castle many times, the interior is interesting but for me the exterior makes it. Convenient parking and a great circular walk taking in the tidal mill and bridge.

Plenty of activities for kids including archery (not sure if this is only run through the school hols as we visited at Easter). The mill is a bit of a trek with young children but interesting and interactive. Very dog friendly and free parking too!

Well worth a visit. The castle is a joy to explore while the Mill is fascinating, especially the top floor display that provides a wealth of easily assimilated information backed up by excellent visuals.

Thank you for your review. There is loads to see and do inside the Castle and Mill, the Castle looks a bit like a ruin from the outside but is surprisingly intact, with loads of rooms, hallways and staircases to explore. Hopefully you will come...More

Lovely castle and grounds, with a pleasant walk around the ‘lake’ and small mill museum. Interesting to read the history of the site. The lake area is accessible for buggies/prams, but evidently the castle interior isn’t suitable, as expected. The pub across the route serves...More

A lot of the Castle and grounds are outdoor but a significant amount of the Castle is undercover. The Tidal Mill is all indoor, there is a short 10 minute walk to get from the Castle to the Mill.
