Not much of a drive from Sur, this wadi is just beautiful. If you are driving and do not have a 4x4, park just after the ford and before the road splits and continue on foot. We were there in January so the weather was comfortable. I imagine that in summer the walking option would not be a good choice.…

I went there first in the morning after leaving from Sur. The road is easy to find (use maps.me) and gets exciting the more you drive into the valley. At some point I would strongly recommend a 4WD car, as it gets very steep and narrow and if the ground is wet you cannot continue with a standard car. You need some good nerves sometime, don't give up! You will end in a small village where children play around and offer you guidance to the pools. Basically you walk down to through hundreds of terraces where they plant all sort of stuff (also bananas) and will then find very big rocks with great blue watered pools in between. I was alone there and could enjoy swimming and making pictures. The water is not too cold, around 22° (in December).…

Great experience to swim in the cascade but you may follow few advices to make sure you enjoy : - don’t follow Google Maps as they guide you to a spot 5km upstream which is accessible only by a 1h30 c2 adventurous 4x4 road from Sur. Great scenic views and spot but you need to find a local to help get there as it is quite dangerous to access the pool. Also your 4x4 and drive ability should be solid. - in the regular Tiwi wadi pool - cascade, make sure you follow the stiff road all the way and have a local guide from the village to guide last mile and pool access (2/3 OMS per person if 4-5 seems to be the fair price)…

Fantastic Wadi, difficult drive up to the top, we got a lift from a local as my 2WD gave up about half way up. The guy who gave us a lift was local and lived at the village at the top where you descend down from to get to the wadi. He was a lovely guy, he invited us into his house, gave us dates and coffee and then took us down to the pools to swim and then to the viewing point to see the waterfall. He didn't want to take us right down to the waterwall as I have two young kids and it does look a little dangerous. He did expect some payment after dropping us off at the bottom but I gladly gave him what he wanted and would recommend him to anyone he needs a lift up and wants to be shown where the wadi is. His name is Jamal Salem and his no. is 92298795.…
