I had a lot of people tell me that the Lagoon was too far for a day trip from Reykjavik. Don't believe them. It's not to be missed. I can't imagine having gone all the way to Iceland and not have gone to this lagoon....More

Fantastic shapes and colours in the bergs that are swept into this lagoon. Let your imagination go wild!

We took the 2 1/2 hour ice cave tour from the Lagoon during our trip to Iceland. The offroading into the icy roads was honestly more interesting than the cave itself which is perhaps 75 meters deep. After 45 minutes of visiting the tiny cave...More

A must do if you go on a road trip in South Iceland. The site is really beautiful, the lagoon, the icebergs and their movements to the beach. Time did not count anymore, I could have stayed there the entire day watching the icebergs arrive...More

Impressive experience in the pure nature of this fantastic natural park, with waterfalls, icebergs, mountains, tracks, ice climbs and much much more to see and to do!

We arrived in a snowstorm but the icebergs were awesome. It didn't encourage us to spend too long but we couldn't help taking more and more photos even though my iPhone died from the cold and my fingers were freezing. The icebergs are all different...More

You hardly believe your eyes. In a relatively small lagoon that borders the Geltsjer and meets the ocean on the other side, huge gigantic ice rocks in every colour of Blue and Black greet you. The special boat that take you into the water is...More

Thor, our Zodiac captain, was HYSTERICAL and so kind. Travelling with a senior citizen who has a minor challenge with walking, Thor was kind and patient during our walk to the Zodiac boat. He had us laughing the whole tour and you could tell he...More

This place is beyond words. It is very other worldly and definitely worth the drive! We took an overnight tour from Grayline tours (not the best, but not the worst either) and stayed in a bed and breakfast hotel 10 mins drive from the Lagoon....More

Most people visit the golden circle when visiting Iceland. But if they take more time and drive the southern ring rd to Jokulsarlon Lagoon they will get to see many great sites along the way. And the Glacier icebergs in the lagoon and on the...More

Hello Matika and all who consider this excursion. Yes, it is definitely worth the trip, and I suggest your own car so you can stay as long or short as you wish on the way. I presume you will go in the summer season and... More

it would be about 10 hours driving total, if you don't get out and marvel at various sights along the way. a stunning drive, but very long. plus factor in time out the car doing things...I'd say it's too much for 1 day.

I did 2 weeks ago when there wasn't any snow. It was a nice drive but I wouldn't do it again. Drive out on the one day but book a hotel for the night nearby the lagoon. The Foss hotel looks really nice!
