We started walking from Gangotri town to reach Gomukh. Road condition is too bad and dangerous. Our experience doesn't match with those of our friends and family members who visited earlier.

A Trek to 15000 feet covering a total of 50km by walk and sometimes by climbing at almost 70 degrees. When my friend Rajesh jokingly challenged me to join him for Trek to tapovan, 4600m above, in Himalayas initially I took as joke. He is an avid trekker and have done more than two dozen treks in Himalayas. I used... More

Visited gangotri glacier as part of gangotri-gaumukh-tapovan trek through youth hostel trekking program. The view of Bhagirathi river (the ganges) originating from underneath the mouth of the gangotri glacier is awesome. The glacier is covered with mud and stones. So you can see ice only in some parts. Gangotri glacier is currently 26km long and 2nd largest glacier in himalayas... More

Gangotri-Gaumukh-Tapovan is a super trek. Must perform in ones lifetime. Ideal for introspection besides marvelling at the expanse and power of Mother Nature. Mt Shivalinga and Mt Meru are a delight. Gangotri Glacier is massive and awe inspiring. Must Must Do!!
